It's called parallel construction, and apparently no one at the TD has heard of it.

Oh, and thanks, Fox, for pointing out Trevor Stoke's mispelling of Shoal Creek. Tell your friend SS that she needs to do a column on it.


You might want to spell optimistic and optimism correctly in your own post before you critique others for the lack of a parallel construction.

OK, glad to know it wasn't just me. I looked at that title and thought, "Huh"? Then I read it and still couldn't figure out if it was intentional.


Kat...just like you, I'm glad to know it wasn't just me (or us). When I saw the title tonight I asked my husband, "shouldn't that be optimistic?". I also read the article to try to make it make sense to no avail. Perhaps I just "pet peeve" things like this but I have heard throughout the holidays-"drive safe" and it drives me nuts!
