Was not John Boehner and the teabagger controlled congress going to "turn around" the job market after being elected????????????????????????????????

OR, are BOTH sides playing politics and especially the corporations which hold the actual power over elections so they can INSURE that this country is neither rethugliteacon or democrat but PLUTOCRAT which in reality it already is.

Blindly goose step off the cliff with the destruction of the middle class!

So you're advocating for continuing waste in local government, or basically advocating that anything that doesnt make OBama look bad is OK?  Thats your argument?  The BushIIe Depression has already lasted 3 years, and will continue through 2014 no matter who is in the White House, unless, there is a fundamental change in tax law that makes US corporations see that the tax implications of keeping workers in the US is the same as sending the jobs offs****.   My own company now has a broker in China to facilitate production of alot of the the standard parts that we make.  The only thing we cant send over there is the DoD work which is where the real profits centers are.

Ditzy,

Where in your fevered imagination did I advocate continued waste in local government?  Your original post stated "Obama got rid of too many guvmint employees, hired by BushIIe,"  inferring that the lost jobs were federal.  I stated, correctly that most of the jobs lost were state and local, except for seasonal federal jobs like the census takers.  Now, you've just proven my point.

The recession was caused by federal housing policy and an interjection of a trillion dollars by Fannie/Freddie distorting the market.

The recession will continue as long as Obama's policies stay in effect.  Just be glad a lot of the DoD work is actually for the foreign market.  I'm probably keeping you employed.

The local jobs were paid for with federal dollars, from King BushIIe.  He hired em, managing to increase government employment by over 2,000,000 jobs during his 8 year anointment.  Thats why they're unemployed now, the federal dollars are gone. And next year there will be even less federal dollars.  AlObama will have to come up with an additional $1billion for next years budget, or find that much in cuts.

both sectors indexed to 100% where they were in January 2009 when Obama took over

Ditzy,

The latest graph you've posted is for private vs. federal job, not local and state government jobs.  It does an increase in federal jobs that's continued from Bush to Obama. Still not sure what your point is, if any.

This thread is about the 9.2 percent unemployment rate which is Obama's baby.

FYI, federal employment should be reduced, but it won't solve the deficit problem as their pay and fringe benefits only amount to about 5 percent of the budget.  Its the massive amounts of money spent on programs that must be curbed.  Cutting federal positions will help, but only a bit.

Nope.  You're wrong again.  In the last chart you will appreciate that the graph of government employees(all government including state and local) is the same as the first chart I posted.

I find it satisfyingly ironic that OBama and Clinton shrink government while Reagan and BushIIe grew government.

There will be no significant cuts to any federal programs as they are mandated by law and simply be altered because of a budget shortfall, and with a divided Congress, there will be no changes to those laws.  The Repubs know this and will be agreeing to a debt increase compromise by the end of next week.

Wow, that's the reason I rarely log on here anymore, it is pointless to bandy words with you leftist soft dough brains. Especially the ones who are mistakenly under the impression their intellect is so far above anyone with an opposing opinion. Let me state for the first time of likely many to come, "You leftists are wrong".  So the next time you start to type some "great point", just remember that you are wrong. That is all.

Reagan made a agreement with the Democrats that for every dollar of revenue he agreed to, they would cut three dollars in savings. He agreed to the revenue, but the Democrats never reduced spending.

I don't know why you are gloating about the deficit.  The deficit is equal to the entire income of those making $250,000 and above.  That way lies increasing debt and interest.  And a future worse than Greece.

Now, as to the myth that Clinton reduced government;

"It was Bill Clinton who, during the big budget fight in 1995, had to submit not one, not two, but five budgets until he begrudgingly matched the GOP's balanced-budget plan. In fact, during the height of the budget wars in the summer of 1995, the Clinton administration admitted that "balancing the budget is not one of our top priorities.'"

Bubbah had to be dragged kicking and blubbering to reduce the budget. Five budgets!

Obama's budget was rejected by the Senate -- the DEMOCRAT CONTROLLED SENATE- by a vote of 97 to 0!

Republican jobs plan leaves Congressman speechless:

BillMaher, as usual, was very blunt on his HBO show "Real Time" last night:

"And before you accuse me of equating the CaseyAnthonyverdict with Republican thinking, save your breath. I am," BillMahersaid on Friday. "I am. I'm saying if you're a working class American who still votes Republican, then you don't get to ***** about that verdict."

"This is a country of the rich, by the rich, for the rich," Maher told his audience. "All of it goes to making the lives of the rich just a little bit cushier. Oh, I'm sorry, did I say rich? I meant job creators."

"Yes, Republican base, you are just like that jury. It is pathetically clear who is killing the middle class. But, you keep letting them get away with murder," Maher concluded.

So, you're quoting Bill Maher, alleged comedian, who's never accomplished anything in his life except smirking and making simplistic nasty comments!  And, we're supposed to be impressed!  Any teenager can accomplish the same feat.

Thank you for admitting that you can't handle the truth.
