Well, why did'nt they shoot the dog? they threw rocks making fun of a poor hurt dog then video it to say,Hey, look mom I'm brave.

Can't answer that. My previous post was not meant to say every soldier is supposed to shoot every dog he sees. It was to show that in some cases soldiers are authorized to shoot wild animals. These men may not have been authorized. It could have been outside the compound gate where gunfire to kill a dog would cause more trouble than was needed.
Any half-blind person can see that the poor animal is being tortured.Anyone that is not deaf can hear that those demented people were laughing and thought it funny.I have sent my email and I am making sure that everyone I know is sending their emails to make sure these individuals are punished.
And I was refering to that beach front property in the desert that is located smack dab in the middle of sheffield!

I'm being the Devil's advocate here. I'm not condoning animal torture in any way. What the video shows is what appears to be soldiers throwing rocks at a hurt dog to make it go away. At the same time they are laughing at the dog. It takes a sick person to laugh at a hurt animal, but as for throwing rocks (as I mentioned in earlier post) they were probably trying to get it to go away. There is no evidence on the video that they hurt the dog to start with. I've also mentioned in earlier posts why they might not be able to just shoot the dog to put it out of it's misery. How is throwing a rock at a dog torture?

As for the downtown Sheffield property, even I'm smart enough to aviod buying that.
Owners of downtown property severely over price it. No one could afford to buy and then try to develop. Are the property taxes current on all the property?

Parts of Iraq are quite green. The date palm plantations are around the Green Zone/IZ. Saw my first unripe date fall off one -- looked like a green acorn.

Up in the Kurdish area it's quite green in the summer. They're planning and building ski resorts.

Is there anything WE can do about it? NO!!

Is there any changes that WE can make? NO!!

Do I want to know how many people a Soldier kills a day in war?? NO!!!

Do I want to know if they threw a rock at a dog? NO!!

There are things of war that the general public should NOT know... we are not TRAINED mentally to know... we have no idea of the atmosphere, the frustration, the fear, the horrors they live on a daily basis... And I just don't want to hear of any torture of an animal, let their commander take care of it. Frowner

War is hell, we are making war, from my position, I am responsible for the behavior of AMERICAN SOLDIERS. Not knowing what they are doing, good or evil, is not in my best interest. I hold myself responsible for them because I am helping to PAY THEIR SALARIES, AND LIVING EXPENSES. I don't want them abusing animals or people.

Okay, what is your answer as to what we can do about it? HOW can we stop it? HOW can we weed out those bad weeds? HOW can we dictate ANYTHING about what is going on over there.

Sure, we can call, write or email our Representative of our State, but you really think they listen?

You are right, PBA, I HATE what happened to TACO, just as much as I HATE what happened to that dog over there... The point was there was NOTHING I could do, or say that would make them stop.

Dealing with people in war, in another country, is NOT something we can fix. Too many have tried and failed. Public outcry is what demanded an end to Vietnam, but by the time it actually happened... LOOK WHAT HAPPENED!!! Some of the American Public treated our Vietnam Vets better than this poor dog was treated.

You can post these tear-jerkers forever, if you choose, but fact is... UNLESS someone can come up with a SOLUTION to stopping things like this in Iraq, then please do so.... I am all ears!

THAT is exactly what I meant, PBA. We cannot even stop child abuse and or child killing here... or murder of any kind, or rape, or ... well the list goes on and on... and THAT is to PEOPLE... SADLY Frowner
I'm with you on this one, pba. If a person can be that cruel to a dog, imagine what that person would do to a human. Sick, just sick. I know this is not representative of every soldier, but all this talk about defending our rights is certainly not being supported by repeats of videos like this.

I was just thinking about how many priests have had to endure raging scrutiny in the world and in this forum because of the issues attached to a few who have made the news. People here seem to be willing to indict the whole of clergy based on a few "bad apples." However, as soon as that kind of generalization is made with soldiers based on the same type of continued media footage (pictures or otherwise), everyone starts foaming at the mouth to defend them! I don't know which side I'm on in either subject, but it's a double standard in any case.

Thank you very much. As I said, you remember the dog that had his ears cut off that made the big news here in Florence several months back, it has been said that people who mistreat animals usually go on to be serial killers.
