In the state of Alabama, do mo-peds and small scooters , or bicycles with assist require a state tag ?

For the life of me, I can't seem to find anything on that. In a lot of states, any thing 50CC or smaller does not need to be tagged, but what about this here state ?

Yes. For tag and tax purposes, motor scooters and motor bicycles are treated the same as motorcycles.

It's in the definitions of Title 40-12-240, under motorcycle, and is regulated by Title 40-12-242, which requires that the proper taxes be paid for motor vehicles and motor cycles, and that they have a rear tag.
