The building is three feet higher than the old clubhouse was. It is well above flood level.
The building features some original and very skillfully constructed natural wood features produced by Robin Wade. These include the walnut doors, the several interior benches constructed from big irregularly-shaped slabs of hardwood, and a fantastic conference room table made from a huge section of a tree that reportedly was downed in the outbreak of tornadoes that devastated areas south of Florence, including Hackleburg, a couple of years ago. You might have to ask to see the table, since it is away from the main visitor area, but the staff will show it to you if you request to see it.
The floor features an expressionist version of the Tennessee River, made with tile from Centiva. it is exquisitely crafted.
All in all, the building is a very high quality structure that provides a great image for the Shoals. Moreover, it was brought in under budget, a rare thing these days.
