With all the hullabaloo about the upcoming primaries, I realized that I wasn't sure if I was registered to vote here in Lauderdale County, since my wife and I recently moved here from Huntsville. In Madison County I could look on their website and see that I was registered and find out the voting location that I was assigned to. Is there such a website here in Lauderdale County? I couldn't find one.

Also, does anyone know if changing your address with the post office also changes your voter registration?

Changing your postal address does not affect your registration for your former residence, only registering at your new address does.

That is to say, I had to register for the Lexington precinct from the Elgin one when I moved five or six miles.

The registrars want your current address, so that you will vote in the proper precinct. You should run to the courthouse and do it soon if you want to vote in Lauderdale in February! It is fast, just take a utility bill or a rent receipt or such to prove your residence should they ask for it. You can do it by the internet, too, as the address showed. But if you do it in person, you can guarantee your name is on the list for your address you provide.

It's easy and fast. You should soon get a little slip of paper from the registrars that tell exactly where you vote and what districts you are in per your address.

Thats not because people aren't voting... its that this area is quite stagnant in people not really moving in very much. If you live here, chances are you were born here and you'll die here, and that if you're registered to vote, you've been registered forever, and have been going to the same voting place for decades.

I was born here, have moved away a time or two (once to South America), and now have moved back.
