Combine this story with the shooting in a Toys-R-Us and it make you wonder. Walmart is probably protected by workman's compensation laws and will not receive much retribution from this situation. But these stores hold the sales to get a "push." In that case it makes them partially responsible for the safety of their workers.

But you are so correct. People are crazy. If I remember the story correctly people continued to trample the rescue workers. No humanity here.

And the sad part is, in the Walmart case, they will probably not prosecute anybody. Sad.
I'm not sure how all stores "open their doors" on Black Friday (because I'm not psycho enough to but myself through all of that) but I appreciated how it worked at Lowe's when I was there last year. We all stood patiently in line until time for the store to open.
When the time came, they opened the sliding doors just enough for everyone to walk in single file. I understand that once a person gets inside they will most likely make a mad dash to whatever section they are going to but it cuts down on the rush of people trying to jam through the entrance all at once.
From what I read in the story, these savages tore the doors down, I think that 2000+ people pushing against the doors would be enough to take them down.

I remember when I was a little girl and the Cabbage Patch Doll was all the rage. My aunt got one for each of her nieces that year for Christmas (mine's name was Beth Casey!) and told us stories about women punching each other to get those dolls. Now people are actually killing other people to get the coveted Christmas items.

I wonder how Jesus feels about these people doing these things in the name of celebrating his birth??
At our own Wal-Mart store here in Florence, a lady got a blackeye and a gash on the head in the electronics dept. all because she was first in line for the XBox. She did get her XBox though. But, did we see anything reported about it...I didn't but I was out of town reading the paper online so I could be mistaken. I agree something needs to be done about these sales. If these stores were held accoutable for these injuries and deaths they would change their procedures.
