Conservative angels must be hovering this week.  Just as the NYT sold the Boston Globe, the Washington Post, itself, was sold to a west coast IT billionaire.  Pass the smelling salts, the east coast elite are fainting in droves.  And, that's the menfolk.

Ten years ago, the Post was worth about $2 billion.  Amazon billionaire purchased the Post and several smaller regional papers for $250 million with his personal fortune.  The Post was a money loser for years, but was kept afloat with revenue from the corporation's six TV stations and Kaplan U, a true cash cow.  Now, the feds are clamping down on for profit universities like Kaplan and Devry, the Graham family saw the light and sold their money loser.

Bezos supported Obama, but calls himself a small l libertarian.  No matter, he can't be worse than the previous owners.

He spent one percent of his personal worth to buy the WashPo, so has the funds to waste/invest(?).  Be interesting to see the results.  The old dead tree media journos have skills they can translate to the internet.  Whether, they can make the transition is the question.  Some dinosaurs evolved into birds, some became fossils.  Of course, even the translation may be flawed. T. Rex's descendants are no longer fearsome, just the main course at Colonel Sanders.

Dan Rather's attempt to sabotage Bush's candidacy was the big reveal as to the power of new media.  In the past, MSM owned the presses and the stations.  Attempts to counter their influence was limited.  On the net, people familiar with fonts, typewriter capabilities and such could show that Rather's documents were counterfeit and his claims impossible.  Now, all MSM journos are on notice their fabrications will be challenged on a world stage.
