Frog, you joined this forum over two years ago and have made enough posts to have gained "hall of fame" status, and most if not all, were in the religion section where Vic is most active, . You may not have been posted much at first, but in the past few months, you have taken an active part in many many threads where Vic had quite a few posts. You have responded to many of these posts. You have seen the friendly back and forth banter between Vic and Jennifer (Bestworking. You have witnessed Vic's quirky but (IMO) lovable sense of humor displayed here every day.

I submit that anyone with the above "qualifications" who didn't see that Vic was joking either has poor perception when dealing with people on an internet forum where one can't see the faces or hear the tones of voice, or perhaps, just perhaps, they don't WANT to.

Does it matter? Not really. But I just wanted to let you know that I, for one, see your "misunderstanding" as overblown at best, if not insincere.

Lol.  That is soo cool how you could track down all my info and know me and my motives, thoughts, and level of sincerity so well by missing that I joined but didn't post here for a good while, that I don't read all the posts and have no clue still who some are with all the supposed plots, changed names, people throwing accusations of so many things back and forth, and that you think I would know automatically because someone possibly jokes with another member that one particular post might be a joke or not.  It's cool too how you have straightened me out on my deficiencies regarding whether another member was joking or not on a post, but it does make me see why someone might get excited if someone on here actually said s/he was right about something...lol.

I submit that you really have no clue much about me or how I understood or misunderstood something someone posted, and that it is amazing that you know what I see from all the way wherever you are...you must have super powers!  I guess it never occurred to you that while you know and appreciate someone's "quirky but in your opinion) sense of humor, someone new to the forum or who doesn't read every single back and forth between two people, or someone who just didn't see a post the same way you did is either overblowing...lol...the situation, "misunderstanding" it, or even insincere.  Wow.  Or maybe I have poor perception (since yours is amazing you would spot that immediately) or I didn't want to see your "truth"?  You have it all covered and have seen through my whole secret agenda of...I have no idea, but there must be one since you see it.  (not really)  But thanks for making sure I know how insincere my misunderstanding was.  I feel suitably exposed now...feel better?  It was sincere, and I could go into how ironic it is that you assume I should know what someone else's intention was when you are so wrong about mine, but I won't...lol.

This really must matter to you a lot to make sure that not only do I see this your way, totally understand and approve it from your point of view, and that you need to keep pointing out how I should see it.  I wasn't the only one who thought that, but this needs to be all about me and my insincerity I guess.  Why do you care, anyway?  He said he was joking and I moved on...can you, please?

Oh geez.  Who said anything about a competition?  Perhaps canade felt good not being attacked or that someone agreed with him/her.  How is that anything to do with you or anyone else?  I didn't say ONLY canade is right and everyone else is wrong.  I guess I would ask if you feel there is a competition?  I sure am not in one....it was most likely a treat considering how many people get jumped or disagreed with to have someone agree

OH FOR THE LOVE OF PIZZA PEOPLE!!!

Don't get into an argument just because someone agreed with me and I was happy about it! Ever stop to think I might have posted that just to lighten the mood around here? Tweren't any competition about being right, I CERTAINLY did not think there was, I don't think Frog thought there was either. He/She was just being nice.

"He said he was joking and I moved on"

OK, so THAT's why you asked three other people including a phychologist? Sure doen't sound like you've moved on to me. You say it doesn't matter to you, yet you had to show this post to three other people, including a licensed psychologist?

"no one else I asked offline just to see if I was missing something or misinterpreting the comment either got that it was a joke or thought it was funny when I said it supposedly was one.  They didn't even think it made any sense as anything but one way, and they explained it the same way I did and commented that  was passive-aggressive without any prompting from me.    That was 3 people who don't all think how I do and often don't see things as I do, so no, I don't think it was just me.  I only asked because I wanted to see if I were being overly sensitive, but apparently not, and one is a licensed psychologist who knows the definition."

Sorry, but it sure sounds to me like you are the one who has a problem. As for me, I have already said it doesn't matter what you and your psychologist friend think, but I DO take offense when someone calls my friend "passive-agressive", based on ONE little joke. Isn't it amazing that you don't think I could figure YOU out from reading so many of your posts, but YOU think you can "diagnose" someone as passive-agressive from reading just ONE post.

I'M figuring YOU out more and more all the time and I don't need to have a licensed pshychologist look at your posts to come to the conclusions I have. Keep on posting. Everyone else will begin to see it before long too.

O No, I asked others to make sure that I wasn't being biased or unreasonable.  I really don't think I always read things as they were intended or that I have all the answers, so I asked for input.  Observing that a statement is a passive-aggressive comment isn't the same as diagnosing someone with a passive-aggressive personality disorder, and of course I wasn't doing that.

I'm not going to argue with you, and I agree that the more we post the more people learn about us.

I'm sorry that it didn't stay the way you intended.  I was trying to do the same, but it ended up in a train wreck.  I am glad you are here and enjoyed your post.

There is no point in arguing with O No, it is a exercise in futility. For more than one reason. Obviously she is clarvoyant as you say and will know what you are going to say even before you do. Also it gets you no where. Some people argue, aggravate, and stir the pot for fun. If you try and argue your point you will only fuel their fire and make their day.

As I said before you did not misunderstand the post. They just saw an opportunity to jump on you and try and get you angry. That way when you finally had enough and responded back in anger they could say "See how mean those atheist are?" Its a game she plays over and over here. I am glad to see you did not let her manipulate the situation in her favor. Good for you!

DA, it is pretty easy to figure out what people are like after you have been reading their posts on an internet forum for a while. For example, I have read enough of your posts to know that you enjoy twisting people's words, pretending not to understand anyone who makes a point that refutes what you are saying. I know that you like to smile so sweetly and innocently while flinging outrageous insults, and then claim you are just stating your opinion. I have also noticed that when anyone else states an opinion that you don't like, you get all steamed up and huffy.

In other words, I have been here long enough to realize you are a first class hypocrite. But that is not news to any Christian on this forum. We ALL know exactly what you are.

It is interesting to learn about other people and how much people can have in common, isn't it?  Enjoying the company of pleasant people and learning about interesting subjects is a pretty common  thread among humans I would say.  Some find it in the football stadiums or the local bar, some in church, school...the topics that interest people might vary, but the appreciation for pleasant company is something we all share I would say

I've posted more than once that I went to church for years after I came to the conclusion I just didn't believe anymore. I've also posted about people that tell me they don't "believe that **** either" but they go to church for various reasons. Now I have no idea what kind of church frog attends but if she's going to worship a god she believes in then of course she's not an atheist. If she's going for other reasons she's no different than I was for years or those same people that still go today even after they admit they don't believe.

I am finding a lot of things in common that I never even considered before. I always thought that atheists were anti-religion. Now I am learning that they can believe in the supernatural, attend church, and  don't hate religion.

Amazing.

Going just for appearances is not the same as wanting to go to church. If they don't believe in what their church preaches, than that is just a hypocrite.

Then you haven't been paying attention B. How many times have atheists said it's not the religion it's the things people do in the name of that religion that bothers them? Once more, how many times have I posted that I went to church for years after I lost my belief? I have also posted that if someone asks my children to go to their church, and I know them well enough to have no worry about them being with those people, they are free to go if they want to. I also posted that they went with friends to vbc. They go to church with their grandparents when they spend weekends there. You searched yourself after you wouldn't take my word for it that I had seen jimi mention reincarnation before, and saw where he had and where I had ask if he was a buddhist. So I don't think you're "learning" anything, I think you've just never bothered to really read what atheists post.

I'm sure some atheists are anti-religion, so I can't speak for anyone else.  I just don't happen to believe in gods any more and haven't for several years, but otherwise I'm just a person as anyone else is and you wouldn't know it unless I decided to share it with you.

No, actually it is each person's business why s/he goes to church or doesn't, and if a person loves to sing but doesn't care much for the readings there is nothing wrong with that.  If a person has many friends and enjoys being part of the community why not?  If a person is comfortable at a church where she might not believe everything taught...well, aren't there many people who aren't sure if they believe or don't believe everything taught at the service?  What should get to judge who is a believer enough to get to come to a service if she wishes?  Perhaps one days the message will soak in or the person will move on anyway.

But no, my church focuses on what a person does and how he acts, what he says, and how she treats others rather than even asking if a person believes in a God or gods.  It is action focused and not deity focused.

It was not a matter of taking your word or not, I just had not seen him mention it. I don't read all the threads and many days I have skipped entirely. So I was not doubting your word, just wanted to read it for myself.

As for learning, yes, I am. DF/NSNS and UNOB both said religion is evil, not the followers. The concept of relgion. That religion has held the world back. That religion makes people ignorant. Brainwashed. Dark even uses the 'Dark Ages caused by religion' in her tag line. DF/NSNS has railed against Scientology as being worse than mainstream Christianity, yet has no "GOD".

So, I am learning there is a NEW AGE version of atheism.

Crappy Forum

Wow...if you are seeing what I am that is one weird red line...lol.  I agree the forum style is hard to tell who said what and hard to keep up with.

On that note...can anyone tell me if there is a way to see new posts first instead of all that annoying scrolling and searching?  It makes me tired just finding posts at the ends of threads.  Thanks in advance

Hmm..I think you are right!  I think that is a good label for me pretty much...lol.  I never thought of putting the two terms together, but it explains my combination of activities and preferences..lol.

So it's basically just a like a club meeting? Is there a particular theme or name for the church? Do you take up donations? Is there a preacher/leader? Just curious, not being nasty.

Two ways, look on the bottom left side at the 'home' page.  Or just click "RELIGION" at the top and you will see all threads and which ones has the most recent posts.

Frog, there were a few reasons I kept going to church after I admitted to myself I didn't believe anymore. One was because I loved the people and enjoyed being around them, and you mentioned the singing. They could make that little church rock. But yes, I was very detached from the sermons. It was kinda like, "OK, now I sit here while they have their worship service."

Well, in a way I guess, and yes, it has a name.  But really as I said, the theme is the concepts I mentioned about how you live and treat others.  The talks are about topics that vary greatly and can be a community member with interesting info on some topic, or it could be a member speaking...there is no preacher, but there are a couple of people do the service/meeting through depending on who is available..leaders in the sense of someone has to get up and keep things moving...lol. Yes, donations are accepted for building upkeep, the kids' materials, and for those in need in the community and other areas.  So while the format is churchlike in some ways, the emphasis isn't on what god if any a person follows, but on what you do in your life and how you contribute to the world...positively or negatively.  It is soothing to me to be valued for being myself and encouraged to share whatever gifts or troubles I have without wondering if they will be accepted..

I felt that way for a long time and then stopped going because I had chewed almost through my tongue during sermons...lol.  It was the choice to stop or have to plug my ears, so I figured that plugging ears was really rude and everyone else should be able to attend church in peace.  I understand.
