Star Trek fans will remember this one. i was not an atheist when i saw this so i didn't quite grasp the significance of Captain Kirk's question to God in the following movie clip.

if "god" appears on earth tomorrow, i would think i would have the same reaction as kirk.

i'd probably react the same way.

if he needs a spaceship, then it isn't really god.
if we wonder ' is this really Him?' then it's not gonna be him - it'll be your hungry aliens restocking their pantry.

i rather expect we'll "know" it's god the same way we "know" dropping a brick on our bare foot will hurt.

in other words, if it's not pretty much automatic knowledge, then it isn't really him. if he has to convince us, it's not him. if more than just a few scattered diehards can question it, it's not him. and even then, it will be like them looking at a yellow wall demanding proof that the wall is yellow.

if He returns, there isn't going to be room for doubt. you know your wife loves you. you know your kids love you. you know that brick will hurt.

BUT if you still insist on dropping the brick on your toes for verification, far be it form me to stop you.
He won't mind, and it'll give the rest of us a chuckle.
