I'm not a Christian, & you won't see me pretending to be. It just amazes me to hear some of the things people pretending to be Christian's claim. But it takes all kinds to run this goofy world.

Have a good day, it's beautiful outside.

Thanks Semi... You've shared some thoughts in your last few posts that many feel needed saying but few have the moral courage to say... First, let me say that I feel certain that you are not disliked by the majority here... Indeed, many look forward to your postings. I too have watched in amazement as the Catholic and Protestant "Christian" communities here have spewed forth their hatred one upon the other, all the while proclaiming their form of Christianity purer than the other. I think Vic's statement to the effect that if one is seeking the truth, this forum is the last place to find it.

In any church one will find  fair share of  hypocrites, some more than others. Few, however, are publicly outspoken. Here in the forum, however, the timid may hide behind the anonymity of their keyboard and say whatever they wish. Many of the most outspoken here, come here to spew forth their verbal hate filled garbage, intentionally distorting the Bible teaching, hopefully gaining recognition. They don't even care that the recognition is negative, so long as they are heard and their ego is fed. They set an extremely sore example of the meaning of Christianity.

So please keep speaking up. Go elsewhere if you wish to learn more - I have my own private guru - but come back here often, if only for the amusement factor.

Hi Dove,

I agree with you.  I would hate to see Chick leave the Religion Forum, or post less.  I believe everyone, regardless of our beliefs, adds to the depth of this forum.  And, I would not like to see anyone leave it.

If we cannot stand the heat of someone disagreeing with us, we should not be on any forum -- for, like the old saying, "Whenever we get three   (Christians, atheists, other non-believers)   together; we will have four answers!"

There is nothing wrong with disagreeing.  But, if a Christian is to disagree with another person on Biblical issues, I strongly feel he/she should support his/her refutation with Scripture.  For a Christian, the Bible is the sole and final authority -- so, any spiritual or Biblical point we make should be supported and proven by Scripture.

But, I also strongly believe, that when supporting our belief with Scripture, it should be done by reading out of Scripture what is written, not reading into Scripture what we want it to say, based upon preconceived ideas and biases.

So, to Chick, and all of our Forum Friends, I say let's all hang in there -- and work toward having civil dialogues, even when they get heated by disagreement.   Name calling and denigration never proved a point -- except that this person does not have any solid ground upon which to stand -- so, he/she starts with name calling.  Any time anyone gets angry; he/she has already lost.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

What some people don't understand is the manner in which I say something. It's not meant to be hateful, rude or ugly. Just honest & to the point. When I do say something with anger, there will be no doubt.

Vic is wrong about the forum being the last place to find the truth. If that’s the way he feel’s, he is in effect saying that everyone here is a liar & has no truth in them. The majority of people on this forum is, I believe, good decent people.

You can walk into a church & find people that lie. I have learned many things on this forum.

I don’t understand the anger/hate with “Christians” either. Seems that “let your light shine” doesn’t apply here. Vic & Bill do seem to love tormenting each other. Bill wants his ego stroked & Vic wants to convince Bill how much he hates him. (I'm sure I'll catch Hell for that one)

I like the forum much better since blocking Bill & hippie girl.

I’m not going anywhere, I’m a glutton for

punishment.   I have my own guru too. My husband is very knowledgeable about the bible, & doesn’t mind answering my questions.

Thank you for the encouraging words. I enjoy reading your post, which is also true & to the point.

Hi Hippie Girl,

Do not fret, my Friend.  Chick religiously reads our posts.   But, she likes to do it peeking through the crack, so that she will not be discovered.   Not a problem, we just keep sharing God's Word -- knowing that it seeps through even tiny cracks to find its way into wandering hearts.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

This statement is not true:   For a Christian, the Bible is the sole and final authority.  For Bill, it is true. Bbut by no means is it true for all Christians.  1.2 billion Catholics know better:  Sacred Scripture AND Sacred Tradition (the words of Jesus passed on orally) are both truthful.  One can't said that Jesus was truthful in what the writers of the Bible wrote, but that Jesus wasn't truthful in what He taught the apostles, which they have passed on.

Not all truth is found in Scripture.

Praised be Jesus forever!!

Hi Nathan,

Are you telling us that the God you worship is NOT big enough to have inspired His full message of salvation and Christian living to be written in His Bible?

If you were the CEO of Mercedes-Benz, would you tell your tech writers to leave out key parts of the Maintenance Manual -- so that you could sell them additional manuals -- or so that they would have to come to you for oral explanations?   No, you would not.  You will offer a manual that provides all the information needed to allow the Mercedes to be kept running smoothly.

Is your God less powerful than the CEO of Mercedes-Benz?  Is your God not capable of providing His full revelation to His people?

My God is not that small.  Is yours?

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Hi Nathan,

You tell me, "Sacred Scripture AND Sacred Tradition (the words of Jesus passed on orally) are both truthful."

We know that Jesus Christ is God's Living Word, Logos (John 1:1) -- and the Bible is God's Written Word (2 Timothy 3:16-17).  But, where in all the Bible do we find Sacred Tradition?  I cannot find it in my Bible.  And, since the Bible is our sole authority on all things Christian, I have to assume you found it somewhere else, is some other writings of men.

Is it hidden somewhere in the Apocrypha part of your Bible?

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Hi hg, the Bible says that the Church is the pillar of truth, not the Bible.  Catholics do not believe that the Bible is the sole authority.  We also believe in the things that Jesus taught and that we passed on orally, which we call Sacred Tradition.  We believe that Sacred Scripture AND Sacred Tradition work together.  In believing the Bible only, one fails to take in to account ALL that Jesus taught.  One should also consider that the Catholic Church existed before the New Testament, and wrote the New Testament.

Ah, yes--consult only those books that are pro-Catholic and get their half of the story. That will assure you of a lopsided view of Catholicism, like Nathan's.
