First time non-violent offenders usually don't get jail time, so you wonder why we bother to arrest them and go through the motions. Probation doesn't mean squat to most criminals, they go about their business doing whatever they want, they don't follow the rules anyway, and no one calls them on it. Either put them in jail and let them serve their time, or stop pretending probation means anything and call it what it is, letting them go early.

I notice you just put words in my mouth again in one of your recent posts.

Gosh, I edited a post? How dare any of us here ever do such a thing! So shoot me!

If it makes you feel better about yourself to think you need to tell me the meanings of words, I would never take that pleasure from you. I never related my post to your job, I was speaking of how you come across on this forum & how some of us see you.

Putting words in your mouth? Yeah, I learned that from you & Bill. Doesn’t feel good, does it?

Anyways...back to this 'void' thing, please...

Is this void just a lack of knowledge like DF said?

Or is it more of an emotional thing?  Or both?

Any 'voids' I've had in my life were always temporary things that I could always fill myself, eventually.

Questions asked and answered filled the knowledge gaps when they arose, and I always managed to find people who could help me with the emotional ones.

My father used to tell me that life was like a mountain. Each step got easier the closer you got to the top. (Easy for him to say...He was a well-connected overachiever.)

Unfortunately for everybody else, that isn't always the case.

Life for us is more like hills and valleys....Up some days and back down the next.

I think my life has been pretty full.  In the 48 years I've been alive, I've managed to live the kinda life most folks from big, insular families in tight-knit communities could only ever see in a movie.

What a long, strange trip it's been.

Ain't no voids here.
