So.... Threatening newly freed slaves so they would not vote is noble? Murdering people who did vote? Threatening and assassinating politicians who supported African-American rights? That is some REALLY noble stuff right there.

Forrest was also a progressive (for supporting black and white equality) who dissolved the KKK in 1869. Forrest wasn't a bad guy, but the KKK was most definitely evil before WWI, probably even more than they are today. Also what was happening toward the end of his leadership of the KKK? What happened when he stopped being the leader of the KKK? Oh that's right they became violent and hateful, just like they are today.
