Great idea, rolltidequeen. Smiler

No person or thing can separate me from God...

Romans 8:38-39 "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

The same power that raised Jesus from the dead resides within me. Why live in defeat?...

Ephesians 1:18-20 "I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms."

My mother blessed me with the name "Joy" and the joy of the LORD truly is my strength...

Nehemiah 8:10 "Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is sacred to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength."
Mark 16:14-16
14 Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.
15 And he [Jesus] said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be ****ed. (KJV)
Psalm 55:22
Cast your cares on the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall.

I love that He will sustain me through all my trials. Such a loving God! He is my strength...on that note...

Exodus 15:2
The LORD is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise Him, my father's God, and I will exalt Him.

He makes my heart sing! I jump up and down and yell sometimes for the joy of it. Yeah Baptists do, do that Smiler

Zephaniah 3:17
The LORD your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, he will rejoice over you with singing.

He sings over me too! How awesome is that!

Jerimaiah 17:7 But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him.

I am blessed.

And can ask one thing? Can we please make sure this doesn't become a preachy thread? Let's don't use scripture to preach at someone here on the forum. Let it be verses that are good and helpful to you yourself. Then someone might find help and joy within them. There is a time for conviction and for a time for praise. Let this be one of praise so someone might see something they need or can praise too. Thank you! Smiler
The Beatitudes...From Matthew
3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to them. 4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. 5 “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. 6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. 7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. 8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. 9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the children of God. 10 “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to them. 11 “Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you and say all kinds of evil things about you falsely on account of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad because your reward is great in heaven, for they persecuted the prophets before you in the same way.
Hi all,

While it is hard to declare one Bible verse to be a favorite -- there are three on which I place great importance:

Genesis 1:1, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." This verse is the cornerstone of the Bible. If it is wrong; the whole Bible has no cornerstone, no foundation.

John 1:1, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." On this verse rests the deity of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ -- the Cornerstone of our Christian faith. If this verse is wrong; we have no faith and no future.

Revelation 22:20, "He who testifies to these things says, 'Yes, I am coming quickly.' Amen. Come, Lord Jesus." This is His promise, His assurance, that the first two verses were, indeed, true.

By the way, Joy, my daughter's name is Joy; my daughter-in-law's name is Joy -- and we have the JOY of our Lord because everyone in our family who is old enough to be a Christian believer is a believer. So, I have always said we have a family of JOY.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Hi Sweetpea&Tiger,

That verse is one I have always liked also; for the full passage tells us that we, as Christian believers, are "ambassadors for Christ."

2 Corinthians 5:17-20, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God."

My spiritual mentor, and the man who led me to the Lord in 1987, Pastor Sam Lacanienta, told us of his early days as a pastor when he was pastor of a church in the Philippines. One Sunday, the Philippine Ambassador to England came to the worship service -- and, as it turned out, he was a relative of Pastor Sam. Filipinos are much like we Southerners -- everyone is a cousin or some kind of relative. Anyway, after the service, Pastor Sam talked with him and asked him what was his main job as an ambassador to another country.

He told Pastor Sam, "The main job is to always remember that you are representing your country -- and your job is to do this in a manner which will not embarrass your home country."

Our job, as Ambassadors for Jesus Christ -- is to make sure that He is speaking through us at all times -- and that we do nothing which will embarrass or misrepresent Him.

And, to pour concrete around 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature. . ." -- we can add Romans 8:1, "Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."

So, once we are a "new creature" in Christ Jesus -- there is no more condemnation, no loss of our eternal security, for those who are in Christ Jesus. That is a fantastic promise: eternal security for all who are in Christ Jesus, all Christ Followers, all Christians. And, you can take that to the bank -- the Bank of Heaven.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

I agree, y-dog. I love this thread! Smiler

In Genesis 16, God appears to Hagar, who has been mistreated, impregnated, despised & cast out. God comes to her and tells her what to do & that he has SO got this. Hagar then gives God a name, the first time someone does so in the Bible.

Genesis 16:13..."She gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: 'You are the God who sees me,' for she said, 'I have now seen the One who sees me.'"

El Roi, meaning "the God who sees me". Love that.

You embarrass Him on a daily basis, hatemonger.

You are a pitiful ambassador for Christ. Pitiful.

Judging from many of your posts, it seems painfully obvious from where the hate is spewing. Here's a scenario I'd like to share with you:
"Hello, Mr. Kettle. I'm Mr. Pot. You know you're black, right?"
"Of course I do, Mr. Pot. If you didn't know already, you're just as black as I am."
"WHAT?!? I'm not black!"
Mr. Kettle leads Mr. Pot to the mirror, where Mr. Pot can hardly contain his disbelief.

Don't worry about the speck in your brother's eye until you take care of the pole in your own eye.
Sofa King if you feel this way:

Luke 6:35
"But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked."

1 John 4:7-8
"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love."

These are some of my favorite verses too Sofa King. Even if I don't agree with someone or if they have caused me great hurt that has knocked me to me knees hatred and unkind words will never help me grow the Kingdom of God. And as a Christian that is one of main goals. And that is why I love these verses because they remind me that God is love and to be like Him I need to work constantly on showing these characteristics to others so they can see that being part of His Kingdom is a joy even though it is not always easy. And if you don't agree with Mr. Gray (and I don't always agree with him) it is best to ignore or call it out using scripture. For my words are not life changing but His are. We would love to know your favorite scripture that has helped you get through trials or scriptures that are near and dear to your heart. I would love for you to share!
