What American accent do you have? thinks I have an accent from "The Inland North"? I just answered the questions honestly. I don't sound particularly "northern" but military/civilian travels, English language education, and pronunciation are obviously effecting my speaking voice.

You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop."

I do realize every carbonated drink isn't a "coke", so maybe I AM northern?!

Oh well, the poll isn't scientific, just for fun!

I experienced the same thing when I lived in Texas and visited Alabama
