What liberals and Conservatives stand for

liberals=Freedom...


liberals=...of conscience

You have the right to think as you wish.

liberals=...of religion

You have the right to worship as you please. The government has no business either supporting or opposing religion in general or any specific religion.

liberals=...of speech

You have the right to express your views, whatever they may be. Only in the free marketplace of ideas can truth emerge.

All people are equal under the law. Any type of discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or gender is not only inconsistent with a free and civil society, but is immoral as well.

We spend most of our lives working. Work is the foundation of our economy and a major part of the glue holding together communities. The employee is an equal business partner with the employer, and as such, has the right to collectively bargain for terms of employment.

Contrary to some people's opinions, it is possible to both protect the environment and sustain economic growth. We support taking all reasonable and responsible steps to protect the environment and the species contained therein.

Law is the framework in which society operates. There can be no society without justice. Justice means that those who commit crimes must be made to answer for them, and that the criminal code is fair and wisely constructed. When criminal actions go unpunished, respect for the law weakens. The law applies to all, including all agents of the government.

The Christian tradition is the what makes America strong. The government should support Christianity and make its policies in a manner that supports conservative Christian values.

Citizens have a right to responsible exercise of free speech. Speech which is indecent or damaging to the public morality should not be protected.

In general, discrimination based on race is wrong, but private businesses should be allowed to discriminate if they want. Civil rights laws are an overstepping of government authority.

Education is not a right. The government should provide each family a credit so their child may attend the private or religious school of their choice.

Conservatives=Limited tolerance of Differences

In general, any behavior of way of living that is different from the majority is suspect. Minorities may be tolerated if they make a concerted effort to fit in and hide themselves. This limited tolerance does not extend to homosexuals, who ought to face severe social and legal sanction.

Conservatives=No Social Safety Net

A social safety net of any type is not necessary. It is each individual's responsibilty to look out for themselves and deal as best they can with whatever circumstances or bad luck they may encounter. Religious charities ought to provaide any needed social services.

Conservatives=Limited Employees' Rights

An employer may set the conditions of employment however he or she wishes. The employee has the choice to take it or leave it. Under no circumstances should employees organize for better working conditions. Individual employees may simply quit if they do not like their place of employment.

No Environmental Protection

Protecting the environment is simply not needed. It is more important to sustain expanding economic growth at all costs. It is simply a waste of resources to protect the environment. The free makret will protect our air and water.

Limiting Families

The traditional nuclear family (working father, stay-at-home mother, children) is to be encouraged at all costs. Other forms of family do not deserve any respect or legal protection. Order is more important in families than love.

Conservatism is based on order. Traditions should continue, and anything which challenges the way things have always been is suspect. It is the responsibility of people in society to live in such a way that society stays ordered as it has always been. Ordered Christian liberty is what America should encourage.

If the conservatives have their way, the Bible would be the constitution of the United States.
The liberals believe in the constitution of the United States. Most conservatives would like to ban it. God wants us to obey the laws of the land. He knew that there would be governments but God did not mean for us to support corruption of government.

God knew that there would be sin and this is why God wants you to spread his word and teach. But you cannot force God on anyone. Even God does not force himself on anyone. This is why we have to have tolerance for people who do not accept God. Perhaps they do not break the laws of the land but just refuse to be a Christian or to accept God.



Gays and abortion. These are two issues that I don't think government should control. Whether you outlaw abortion or make it legal, there will be women to choose abortion. Whether you outlaw gays or allow it, you will still have gays. Again, you can teach people of the gay issues and the abortion issues but if they refuse to listen, then you've done all you can do. That would be between them and God. Why should I be concerned whether your daughter is gay or not as long as she does not force her issues on me. Why should I worry whether your daughter gets an abortion or not? When she choose the abortion, that was her right, not mine. And she will have to deal with God on that issue as to whether it was right or wrong.


Why do conservatives complain about people posting stuff that they don't agree with? Because they don't want you to become wise and get educated. If you don't research, ask questions, and want to learn, this is what the conservatives love because they know more than you. So continue to get educated. Don't believe everything the mainstream media is telling you. Learn the meaning of conservative, right wing, left wing, corporate democrat, corporate republican. For your benefit, learn the meaning of all of this.

I'm still trying to understand where he makes the connection of "conservatives want the Bible to be their Constitution" and that Conservatives want to ban the Constitution...Oh my God, I think I'm a liberal -- because most things in the Liberal section are what I think...God save me I've committed a sin!

Some of the "ominous parallels" between pre-Hitler Germany and the United States that Peikoff identifies are:

Some men spent their days tracking and killing animals to B-B-Q at night while they were drinking beer. This was the beginning of what is known as the Conservative movement.

Other men who were weaker and less skilled at hunting learned to live off the conservatives by showing up for the nightly B-B-Q’s and doing the sewing, fetching, and hair dressing. This was the beginning of the Liberal movement.

Some of these liberal men eventually evolved into women. The rest became known as girliemen.

Some noteworthy liberal achievements include the domestication of cats, the invention of group therapy, group hugs, and the concept of Democratic voting to decide how to divide the meat and beer that conservatives provided.

Over the years conservatives came to be symbolized by the largest, most powerful land animal on earth, the elephant. Liberals are symbolized by the *******.

Modern liberals like imported beer (with lime added), but most prefer white wine or imported bottled water. They eat raw fish but like their beef well done. Sushi, tofu, and French food are standard liberal fare.

I kind of hate putting such restraints around people and labels.

Most of the conservative people I have debated were sincere and believe they stand for freedom, justice and fairness but this site touches on some good basic ideas.
I would find that some people were conservative in one way but liberal in others.
And we now have the rise of the religious right who you can't really debate.

And the Neocons are another story. There is a lot of talk about what a Neocon is but I like to joke off the phrase a Supreme Court judged used in defining pornography. "I may not be able to define it but I know one when I see one."

I have always seen a certian kind of business or corproate person to be selfish and greedy. I think those define a person.

PBA--I have never claimed to be a Republican...nor a Democrat....I guess you would call me independent, but I vote the best person for the job regardless of affiliation...I tend to be Conservative on most issues, but there are somethings I'm liberal on...if I see something that I think is a "lie" as you put it, or incorrect assumption ...I reply about it...I'm not jaded and negative as I'm being made out to be...I just stand up for what i think is right...so i guess there are no deals you can make for me...

I think it pretty much sums up the reason pba is so vociferous. IT IS PRECISELY WHY I AM.
I think Social Security is a fine concept, a great plan, and a successful government program. In fact, It needs to be maintained so that it can keep working, not dismantled so we can return to 1929.

I know, and would never try to stop, that prayer in school will continue as long as there are mid terms. I cannot figure the outcry over a rebel flag. (tough if you call it the confederate flag) It clearly identifies the person flying it.
I know how to end demands for prayer in School, REQUIRE IT FIVE TIMES A DAY, FACE DOWN ON THE KNEES FACING MECCA.
The only way to clean up politics is FROM THE INSIDE. If you are not already active in a political organization, START ONE.
On the Educational system you are TOTALLY CORRECT. Make them learn ONLY those skills that will allow them the luxury of holding a low pay job. Provide no music, art, manual skills or critical thinking requirements.
The Radical movements are symptoms of the problems in Politic ans Education. Not the cause.
Your last two are also symptoms, but of two causes, one is the vacumm in education and Politics, and the other is frustrtion with the inability of getting reasonable solutions to the problems addressed.
Hitler solved allmost all of those problems by KILLING anyone who promoted intellectual excellence, labor rights, religious diversity, and political opposition. We have not reached that level to any large extent YET.

Your post said you would make a deal with Republicans and in your post you had "quoted" me and Sassy Kims so I was responding to your post about making deals...but since I am a Republican or a Democrat -- you have no deals for me...

The way you tell when a liberal is lying is when his mouth is open.

When, for example, we say that "Republicans favor the super rich over poorer Americans", we know perfectly well that the majority of Republican voters are not super rich. It's been said, and no one says it better than Justin Frank in "What's The Matter With Kansas" that a good number of people in the lower and middle income groups will vote GOP b/c they hope they will someday be rich. Of course they are voting against their own interests.

Too, the GOP from the time of Reagan has sought to equate Democrats with child molestors and heathens.
