2. Elvis, a poor boy from Tupelo, Ms. who had no hope of ever making anything and became one of the best singers in all of history.
3. Mother Teresa, who helped the poor, the sick, orphaned and those who were dying.
4. Jesus Christ, a carpenter's son, who today millions upon millions are given hope and faith for what HE did.
5. George Jones, a poor boy from Texas, who became one of the best country singers of all times.
6. Mr. Sam Phillips, the founder of rock-n-roll.
7. Gen. Norman Schwarzkoph, a truly American Hero.
Hey Blues! Since your a George Jones Fan, I thought I'd share a story with ya!
My daddy was a Lauderdale County Deputy from 1969 (he started as soon as he returned from Vietnam where he was a Military Police Officer) until August of 1981, when he left the Sheriffs Department for a better job at TVA/Browns Ferry, where he was a security officer.
His first day on the job at TVA was my first day of school in the first grade! LoL!
My point in telling you all of this is during his time at LCSD, he arrested George Jones on multiple occasions for everything from Phone Harassment, DUI, PI, to Shooting Into An Occupied Vehicle.
Anyway, it was no secret that George liked the bottle, so just about every time daddy would have to go pick him up on a warrant, George would usually be drinking, so he'd have daddy & who ever was with him pull up a chair & George would grab his old guitar and start playing some tunes so he could buy himself enough time to finish off his bottle before his trip to jail! Daddy always said George played his best when he had a drink in him, especially if he knew he was gonna have to make a trip downtown!
They'd let him finish his booze, take him in & book him, let him sign his own bond, and then drive him back home to Creekwood! By then, it would be quitting time, and daddy could join him with a drink & some ****ed good music!
I know many good story's about George Jones.
He is a good one!!
