there was a man and his wife ahead of me. he was buying alcohol. the cashier asked for id and asked for her supervisor, explaining to the man she is not old enough to sell the alcohol, someone of age must ring it up. the man got upset with her supervisor as well, started saying he was a cop with Killen (he was in uniform) and there was no reason to card him, he had his badge and they were idiots. he pulled his badge out and started getting very ugly with the young cashier.

What was he doing at Wal-mart buying booze during work hours (if he was in uniform) AND out of his jurisdiction..??? Sounds suspicious to me!

Two facts: Underage is a minute under 21. Yes, underage cashiers can legally work at Wal-mart. Many establichments (in TX and Ga, for example) ask for everyone's ID so no one gets offended. This is just background for the discussion.

Gee, I thought we were talking about establishments here, not in TX and GA. Sorry I misunderstood.
My aunt worked for the State of Alabama and no establishment here can hire someone underage to SELL alcohol.
If Wal-Mart sells alcohol, by law they can not have cashiers underage to sell alcohol.
Your aunt misinformed you.

So why did the girl have to get a manager to sell the alcohol if it's okay to sell when your under 21? Or did I misunderstand the law or miss something in the original post?

the responsible vendor program is a class offered at the ABC office. most places don't want to fork out the money to send waitstaff. the high turnover rate of waitstaff is usually to blame!!!
