I hope "his kind" remembers that when the "law abiding citizen" you offer to "service" for a small hit of crystal beats your ass and steals your FoodStamp card, you pile of excrement.

It's those small favors I find myself thankful for.
I would like to know if the officers around here are on some kind of quote system as to how many traffic tickets they are required to write? Should they not be more interested in keeping our homes safe. It seems you can't move in Florence without getting a ticket. I thought it was bad in my hometown of Dallas, but it seems to be a lot worse here....

LOL, I've been in a lot of cities in this country, but once I walked across a side street in downtown Dallas and a cop almost gave me a ticket for Jay Walking ! Never ever had anything like that happen anywhere else.
It took me a good 15 minutes to talk him out of the ticket.

I don't see your value either.

You wouldn't
This story doesn't even make sense. First they say this kid might be involved in a criminal juvenile case. Then it goes on about how kids can be put in the jail by their parents if they sign a waiver. I know there are some "scared straight" type programs around but I seriously doubt they allow cuffing and shackling kids. And if they DO, then someone ought to be charged with child abuse. I'm referring to situations where the kid hasn't actually committed what would be a criminal act. Bottom line is that juveniles by law aren't supposed to be locked up with adult offenders.

Let me give you hint, if you don't run red lights & stop signs, drive fairly near the speed limit, don't pass on a solid yellow, and obey the rest of the traffic laws too then you won't ever get a ticket. Not even in Dallas!

In Tennessee the process wherein a parent can file charges against their own child involves the signing of an 'unruly petition'. LEOs can also sign them against juveniles. FWIW, just because an 'unruly petition' is filed doesn't mean that a juvenile automatically goes to jail/detention. BTDT

Nah..BFred's right.  I've been here a year and a half and logged a buncha miles in Florence and across N. Alabama and have not had one iota of a problem with the police. ANY of 'em.. Obey the laws and don't stand too far out from the pack and they'll probably never have a reason to bother ya.

If you respond to a call of "burglary in progress" and find a six foot tall, 190 pound male exiting a broken window, and a foot chase ensues,..you WILL take him to the ground and cuff him, even if he is screaming..."I'm a juvenile":   You take the burglar to the PD and if he is under age you call the Juvenile Officer and the boy's parents.  It's hard to tell the age of a large suspect in the dark of the night.

Thousands and thousands of drivers go through the Shoals every day without receiving a traffic citation.   Lots of those in violation get away with it, and some of those that do get caught only get warnings.

Your B.S. is B.S.

I got a ticket back in 2004 for an improper turn, that would be because I made an improper turn and a cop saw it . Lesson learned, don't make a right turn from the left lane. I run up quite a few miles and just never get tickets and that would be because I pretty much follow the rules (might go a little over the speed limit here and there but not enough that I would be pulled over for it)

People who get tickets over and over are stopped either because they can't drive or just plain refuse to obey the rules of the road, whichever way it is, they need to be taken off the road.

I've lived here for several years w/o getting a ticket or a warning. If I were doing something wrong, then I would deserve one. What did you do to deserve a ticket?

you are wrong as usual, dog.  the original poster asked if there was a "quote" system and you certainly do.  i saw a cop of the street recently holding BOTH hands up in the universal "quote" signage.

how that got garbles into a "quota" system is beyond me.

I tell ya what...If anybody needed a citation-the young female driver ahead of me on Helton Dr. yesterday afternoon did.  Pulled right out in front of me from the westbound right turn lane off Cox Creek-I already knew she was gonna so I feather the brake and watch her weave up the right lane-nearly driving into the ditch several times at about 35 MPH. I pass her driving the speed limit and notice she's on the phone and wearing sunglasses that are more like goggles with opaque side parts. She couldn't have had any peripheral vision with those things on. As I pass the light at the industrial park where the right lane becomes a right turn lane-I watch her in my side mirror follow the right lane to the merge and STOP DEAD and put on her left signal to merge into the rush hour traffic whizzing by her.

There should be a category on traffic citations that reads: "and being a chooch."
