Persnally there are other places MUCH MUCH better than Wal-Mart. I know for a fact Muscle Shoals is awful and Florence is getting worse by the day. Walgreens, CVS, and Rite Aide are much better and prices are the same. My sweet wife worked or I may say LABORED for Wal-Mart for 13 years and she was treated like a slave. So talk to someone who knows the facts.

Walmart lets my SSD check go further, not only my grocery bill, but some of the other things I need, personal, medical and household. We can get every thing in one trip, deal with only trying to find a handicapped space in one parking lot and save $3.00 a gallon gas driving in from the county. Oh, and they have plenty of those electric carts I need.

Yes, I would love to strictly buy local and American, but the reality is some of us out here can't afford to be that picky.

If you think CVS prices are the same as Wal Mart then you've obviously never looked around one of their stores. $9 for a bottle of shampoo, $5-$6 for dish washing liquid, $12.99 for a 50 count bottle of Aleve. It's like they add on $4 to the retail price. The last time I was in there I was laughing out loud at the prices on stuff.

I worked for Wal-Mart in Muscle Shoals from 1993 until 2001 and only left because I liked what Best Buy had to offer. I left Best Buy because I didn't like what the Taliban had to offer and joined the Navy.
Back to Wal-Mart: I NEVER felt treated like a slave, except by that one manager who didn't stay long (he was a complete MORON [Arlie Lockwood]). I REALLY enjoyed my job(s) there and got along well with most of the people and management. I'd say I know the facts. I had great benefits. If Dave Ramsey had been around when I first started at Wal-Mart, I wouldn't have to work now.

I am sure you guys know by now that Wal-mart meat IS NOT fresh. It is shipped in folks. Also the produce is crappy. Go ahead buy some and see for yourself. Give me Big Star anyday!

Don't most "fancy" restaurants pride themselves on their "aged" beef? Whenever I'm out of town on extended business, I buy all my meat from Wal-Mart and have never had a problem with it. The only way to beat any grocery store is to go to a good meat market. O'Guirre's is my favorite local place.

McDonald's, Wal-Mart, and other companies are tentatively beginning to cater to Muslim consumers

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/201..._the_muslim_consumer

Why not? They cater to everyone else. I began my blue collar career at McDonald's in Muscle Shoals back in 1990. We had a practicing Hindu family as regular customers. They would come in and order burgers without the meat and the dad would always order extra onions on his sandwich and would also request a child's cup of the reconstituted onions. What's wrong with providing goods and services to a more diverse crowd? I may be missing the mark here, but I assumed you were bringing attention to this story like you weren't necessarily in agreement with their actions. If I'm wrong, I apologize.

I went in there the other day for the first time and the clientele scared me so badly that I actually wished I was at WalMart. Not a full set of teeth anywhere to be seen!

Oh, well, must have been a day that I wasn't there, since I have all my teeth. I admit, I can look pretty scary at times! Big Grin

Hometown is actually cheaper on some things than Dollar General. Eeker Their meat is pretty good. Can't beat the 5 for 19.99 deal on meat. Yes, it's quality cuts, not pigs feet.

Aldi's also has some good buys.

I believe you are the one who posts concerning gay discrimination. Does Walmart also cater to the gay population? Is there a discrepancy in your thinking?

Earthmomma, no it doesn't bother me at all. I'm all for equal opportunity.
