What is Donald Trump hiding? ... he provided the conservative web site with what he purports to be his birth certificate.

Except the document is not an official New York City birth certificate, but rather a document generated by Jamaica Hospital, where Trump's mother Mary reportedly gave birth in June 1946. Official birth certificates are issued (and maintained) by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene's Office of Vital Records.

So, what is Trump trying to conceal?

For once I'm with you on this. Show the original!

Ever thing though that Trump is just being very smart? I think so. Trump will know people will jump on this like a duck on a junebug saying that copy isn't sufficient and then Trump will just shoot back .... You're RIGHT!

That's what Trump has been saying. A Copy is not legit and he wasn't to see the original from Obama. He's using this to make his point which is a very intelligent move, from him.

His point is that Obama never has produced an original, certified, birth certificate which, if legit, should be there. If it's a requirement for the job then it should be presented.

So why all the hub bub? Why not just show the originals and get everything out of the way ... that is IF there is nothing to hide.

Trump and/or Obama

Trump and/or Obama

Actually he has made it public, just the dumb ass birthers don't accept it.
The real problem is you just can't fix stupid. If you buy into that conspiracy theory drummed up by the right wing bunch, you are just stupid and there is no reason to try to fix you.
Who cares? That has to be the dumbest question in the histroy of the forum. The people "who care" are those who care about the laws which were written and are supposed to be followed in the selection and subsequent elction of our leaders. If they cannot be expected to follow the rules, why should anyone else. Irregardless of whether he is legitimate or not, your answer as to "who cares" shows that you have no respect for legitimacy of our elected officials.
I can't believe he's been allowed to go this long without showing his original, certified birth cert. It's only because the people who can enforce this are the government people who are "on his side" and don't want it to be shown. I know it's been said a hundred times, but if there is nothing to hide, then just show the darn thing! I'm all for Mr. Trump and I think it's rather ironic that his name is "Trump" because he is about to trump this thing. He definitely has the winning hand. No pun intended... okay, pun intended.

Trump is being smart. If the libs yell for his, then the conservatives can yell for Obama's.

No, there are some things I would have preferred for him to do, or do differently, but compared to a third term of the destructive policies of W, he is great !
At least I feel like our financial situation is a lot better.
But, back to the topic.
Ditto, I believe all the founding fathers were native born, just under English rule.
This mantra about a birth certificate just amazes me. I knew there were a lot of really stupid people out there, but I didn't have any idea at how many there really are. WOW !
Goebbels was right ! tell a big enough lie to enough people long enough and a lot of them will believe it. Sad but true.
You birthers are being played like a cheap fiddle.
As for Trump, his ego will eventually get the best of him on this campaign. There is a lot of difference in being boss and president. I suspect he knows that.

LOL, you are right about it not affecting the election. Obama will lose.
You know, the FBI does a thorough background check on every presidential candidate, including checking his birth certificate. I realize this won't convince birthers, because they just don't WANT to believe he's a natural born citizen.

Could it be that THAT is why Obama won't release it? He realizes that birthers are an embarassment to sensible Repubs, and that helps to fracture the Republican party even more. Right, we should keep ourselves out of all this. The first thing you do in imposing a "no fly zone" is attack the country with bombs.
I don't know what Obama is wanting to do, but y'all are right, let the Arabs deal with this family dispute. If Obama attacks Libya, I will turn on him.

Yeah, Obama found out being a community organizer didn't prepare him for Pres. Or not having any executive experience.

So the issue is not about the issue of natural born citizens as president, but merely some sophomoric desire to "embarrass" him???

I think you may have hit the nail on the head...but it's a nail no one EVER wants to talk about publicly. His momma is as lily white as my momma. Most states list mother's race as the race of the baby. If he is just another white guy, he isn't the historical prez the libs all slobbered over(and still do.) So much is made about his African descent, but hardly anything is mentioned of his caucasian descent. That's not a good political move for him. If he is "just another white guy", the libs would not be able to cling to the feelgoodism of backing a minority. Nope...just another rich white guy is our prez. lol

Lib progressives do more to promote racism than the KKK. Problem is, we all can easily agree that the KKK are a bunch of nutjobs. Lib progressives package their brand of racism in a much more marketable box.

You are still missing the point. A 'birther' says he is not born in the US.

It's not that his mom and dad were a biracial couple, it's that in the 60's, unwed couples did not get to put DADDY in the father's name field.

So he may be illegitimate. As for Negro, his unofficial one that he released said African American. That term WAS NOT USED in the 60's. So that part is made up. Period.

He would have to explain how that part was made up and still claim it is legit. I am sure he is a citizen, but he also has a hell of a lot of problems to explain.

Is that your only measure of an economy ?

I have a somewhat larger picture, so lets look at this:
Personal Observation:
> During the Bush admin, my 401K steadily decreased in value until it was about 60% of it's former self. Since Obama has been president, it has recovered all it's loss and is about 30% more than it was before the Bush reign of ruin.
> I hold some individual stock, which stopped paying dividends in 2008. They announced in Jan that they have become profitable enough to resume paying dividends starting Q1. (I'm looking forward to my dividend check next week)

Nationally:
>During the Bush reign, in 2007 we started loosing jobs and that loss peaked in 2008. Since Obama has been in, job losses declined, and by the end of 2009 jobs were actually being added to the market. Not enough mind you, but adding jobs is far better than loosing jobs.
>When Obama took office, the American automotive industry was just about to go belly up. The bail-out, opposed by virtually all Republicans, has apparantly been a success, GM has paid back all the borrowed money, and has had an IPO, and will slowly sell stock currently owned by the US and will pay it back as well. I don't know the status of Crysler but their adds say they are back as well. Knowing how much of our economy is based on the automobile , there is little doubt that had GM and Crisler gone belly up, tens of thousands of people would have lost their jobs.
In reality , this has turned out to be a very successful endeavorer.
>GDP - grew at 3.1% Q4 2010
>Inflation - Core up just 1.1% BUT food and energy gaining fast (what you said)
>Retail Sales - 1% gain from prior month
> Job Growth - Strong gains and drop in the UI rate.
>Manufacturing - Highest level since May 2004
> Home Prices - Big drop and could fall more
> Consumer Confidence - Spikes to 3 year high.
: From chart at http://money.cnn.com/news/economy/

While there are some areas that are still hurting, compared to where we were at the end of 2008 , I would be willing to double down on my statement that the financial situation of our country is a LOT better. Seems self evident to me which is probably why I made such a short statement and didn't try to offer any backup for saying that.

Not correct, they paid back borrowed money with borrowed money.

And they paid no taxes, remember? Nice company.

Unemployment still much higher than 'predicted' by this admin if they wasted a few trillion on 'infrastructure'.

Gas up 80 cents a gallon from this time last year. Milk is up about the same. Insurance up as well.

What is self evident is that the economy is slowly turning around despite the government failings. That holds true under any admin.
And besides that, what does anything you mentioned in your last post, B, have anything to do with a person's qualifications? I mean, we could get into ALL of their personal lives on either side and find skeletons in their closets, but so what?

If we can agree that he is a citizen, I'm not sure what all the rest of that has to do with anything. Can he change who his parents are ? Can he change his race, his height , how big his feet are ?
He, like us all, should be held accountable for how he acts, and how he well he executes his duties as our president. Period.
As far as his past is concerned, I find it commendable that he was able to apply himself, get an education, and rise to some level above where many would have found themselves having his background. I also find it disgusting, and embarrassing as a citizen of Alabama, that the parents of Alabama school children did not want their children to hear an inspirational story like that, even though it was the story of a Black man. (possibly BECAUSE it was a Black man)
He has managed to do a lot better than most of us, and I suspect that most of us had a far better start on life than did he.
Disagreeing with his ideas is one thing, to attack him because of who or what his parents were are are is just wrong.
That's just it ONO, so what? why is Obama so scared to show it?

As for Merriam Webster, the term was not put on birth certificates back in the 60's.

In 1835 black leaders called upon black Americans to remove the title of "African" from their institutions and replace it with "Negro" or "Colored American". A few institutions however elected to keep their historical names such as African Methodist Episcopal Church. "Negro" and "colored" remained the popular terms until the late 1960s.[48]

The term black was used throughout but not frequently as it carried a certain stigma. In his 1963 "I Have a Dream" speech,[49] Martin Luther King, Jr. uses the terms Negro 15 times and black 4 times. Each time he uses black it is in parallel construction with white (e.g., black men and white men).[50] With the successes of the civil rights movement a new term was needed to break from the past and help shed the reminders of legalized discrimination. In place of Negro, black was promoted as standing for racial pride, militancy and power. Some of the turning points included the use of the term "Black Power" by Kwame Toure (Stokely Carmichael) and the release of James Brown's song "Say It Loud - I'm Black and I'm Proud".

In 1988 Jesse Jackson urged Americans to use the term African American because the term has a historical cultural base. Since then African American and black have essentially a coequal status.

No one is attacking his parents. Heck even if he was an illegitimate child, he would join the ranks of millions. As for your perceived racism, that is your problem.

You see a great man. I see a guy who did drugs, was sent to the best schools in Hawaii, hated the white man, got a free ride to Harvard on Affirmative Action, condemned the grandparents who raised him, belittled his mother and adored a father who left him, has no experience running a company or a state, and now since he was the 'in fad', he got to be president.

Luckily, he has to follow the rules and deal with both sides, so, so far he hasn't screwed up too bad. But he ain't a great man.

As to his actions as a youngster, our last two presidents, and probably most of our future presidents did drugs when they were younger. So did I and most people I know. I'm glad to see you acknowledge he did go to school in Hawaii and not as some of the nutcase right wing bunch that accuse him of going to some medrassia (I don't know how to spell that word), but in a lot of the other respects you mentioned , I don't see that as totally different from most in the past who became president, or most any other higher position as far as that is concerned- good schools, gotten into by whatever means avaliable whether it was AA or Daddy Warbucks.
I really don't know where you get the grandparent/mother hating part, but I haven't read his book, so maybe you got it there. That is not the picture I have got from listening to him, in fact the opposite, but again , I haven't read his book.
I don't know that I see him as a great man, but I do admire him, or anyone else that started from common, humble beginnings, and achieved a good statue in life. One thing I admired about Clinton.
Well, I don't know what experience running a company could possibly be beneficial to running a country, I guess running a state would be beneficial, but the last x gov we had sure did a horrible job.
I think so far he has done a good, not great, job. There are some things I disagree with him on, but such is life.

NO!

"We have received a lot of question asking “How did Obama get this far, he must have had background checks as he is a U.S. Senator.”

However, this is inaccurate according to Special Agent-in-Charge: C. Frank Figliuzzi of the Cleveland FBI. Background checks are not performed on those elected, once elected they work for Congress and are handed a secret clearance. See below:

This is a conversation between the Special Agent-in-Charge: C. Frank Figliuzzi of the Cleveland FBI and Mike Trivisonno on the Mike Trivisonno Show, WTAM 1100, 7/02/08, Hr. 2.

Caller – Do they perform background checks on candidates and fellows who are in Congress and the Senate and perhaps potential presidential candidates?.

FBI – The short answer is no, no we don’t, but they’re given top secret clearances because they’re members of Congress, or Senators, or even higher ranking officials."
