Which party has been more hypocritical, democrat or republican?

Jon Stewart Slams McCain’s Racist, Hypocritical, Disgraceful FL Campaign Chair.

First Mark Foley, then Ted Haggard, now Florida lawmaker (and St. McCain state campaign manager) Bob Allen has been snagged in a gay prostitution scandal. What’s more, just like Foley, Allen authored legislation that would ban the very same lewd and lascivious public acts in which he was caught red-handed. I think it’s time to call it quits, Johnny. After learning that Allen blamed a fear of dark people for his $20 offer, Jon Oliver comes up with some better (and more clever) excuses.

Watch Video.

In the political realm it would appear that actions do not matter, only rhetoric.
These are the same bunch in the same political party that the TV preachers support with such vigor.
Hyprocracy is not only the individuals, but those who preach one thing and support another.

The hyprocracy of slandering some behavior , while lieing and falsifying others is the single most repugnant thing from the right wingers, and was one of the main reasons, I chose to consider myself a Democrat instead of independent.
Consider the case of our own Bill Gray who preaches the values of Christian people, but then uses lies and mis-characterizations to attempt to define the positions of those politicians that are not of his beloved Republican party.
Its the Republicans,definitely the Republicans.

*Larry Craig, Vetters, Foley, Allen, Stevenson, King and others.....

Dolan, Terry Ran NCPAC to elect far-right Republicans in the 1970's when they were attacking gay victims of AIDS - Died of AIDS (talk about irony!)

Dreier, David Powerful Congressman who votes consistently against gay rights - Closeted gay

Guckert, James Wrote gay-bashing articles for right-wing Talon News service - Gay prostitute

Mehlman, Ken Ran George Bush's 2004 campaign with anti-gay marriage as central issue; now Chairman of the Republican Party - Closeted gay

Williams, Armstrong Regularly attacked gay marriage on CNN - Settled gay sex harassment lawsuit for $200K

Thurmond, Strom - White segregationist Sen. who fathered a child with a black housekeeper then fought against the civil rights of his own daughter.

West, Jim Mayor of Spokane Washington who spoke out against gay people. Was caught soliciting sex from an undercover male reporter. Republican Legislator prior to his tenure as mayor.

Do you only look for gay or racist issues?
Every politician is a hypocrite.

No dear. I am interested in ALL issues of social justice. Womens issues ( you name it), gay rights issues, childrens rights and protection, healthcare ( including mental health ), issues of racial equality, education. If you go back and read my posts you will find that there are few social issues I am not interested in. As as a part of the Dept. of HHS for over 20 yrs, I have dealt with most of them both professionally and personally.

Yes, all polititians are hypocrites to one degree or another. Some are worse than others.

Or, Barney Frank let his "good friend", a male prostitute, run tricks out of his home.

Barney Frank was dealt with appropriately. He admitted his wrong doing and is still very popular in his district (which includes Cape Cod - where my sister lives) some 20 years later. The fact that he is gay was not something he was hiding and being hypocritical about.

Who is "cold cash Willie"?

Surely you have some better examples of personal and political hypocrisy among the Democrats.

John Edwards: The Picture of a Scandal

‘We’re working off our timetable, not yours,” says David Perel, editor of The National Enquirer. “I’m not letting other media drive the story for us.” Perel is talking about the issue of whether the Enquirer should have published, by now, photos of a July 22 confrontation in a Los Angeles hotel between its reporters and former Sen. John Edwards. Edwards had, the Enquirer reported, come to the Beverly Hilton to see a woman named Rielle Hunter, with whom he has had an affair and a baby. In an almost surreal scene described on the Enquirer’s website, Edwards was said to...

PS Snake, cold cash Willie is William Jefferson, the guy who put $90,000 in his freezer. Everyone does that.

A question - Did Edwards vote to outlaw adultry, or decry the private sexual behavior of consenting adults? Probably not. Hypocrisy is saying one thing and doing another.

I suppose the Senate could vote to deny job protection for adulterers - yes. Adultry was illegal at one time. Still is in the military.

"Historically, adultery has been considered to be a serious offense by many cultures. In some countries, adultery is a crime. However, even in jurisdictions where adultery is not itself a criminal offense, it may still have legal consequences, particularly in divorce cases. For example it may constitute grounds for divorce, it may be a factor to consider in a property settlement, it may affect the status of children, the custody of children, etc. Moreover adultery can result in social ostracism in some parts of the world."

"In the United States, laws vary from state to state. In those States where adultery is still on the statute books, even though they are rarely prosecuted, the penalties vary from life sentence (Michigan)[32], 2 years imprisonment (Pennsylvania), or a fine of $10 (Maryland). In the U.S. Military, adultery is a potential court-martial offense.[33] The enforceability of adultery laws in the United States has been / is being questioned following Supreme Court decisions since 1965 relating to privacy and sexual intimacy of consenting adults, in cases such as Lawrence v. Texas."

Nancy Pelosi " This will be the most open and honest congress ever!" Now that is hypocrisy.

That is a good start, but not very specific.

William J. Jefferson, (D) Louisiana

Filmed by the FBI accepting a $100,000 bribe.

$90,000 was found in his freezer, wrapped in aluminum foil, and stuffed inside frozen food containers.

cold cash willie

SAN DIEGO, California (CNN) -- Former GOP Congressman Randy "Duke" Cunningham was sentenced Friday to eight years and four months in federal prison for taking $2.4 million in bribes from at least three defense contractors.

Neither of these examples are hypocrisy by definition. These are criminal acts.

I would say the hypocracy comes in when you consider that they vote on and pass laws prohibiting the very acts they've been caught in. It's hypocritical to expect others to follow laws you've enacted when you don't follow them yourself.

Yes, that works.
