Which will come first, the completion of the "Roundabout" in Sweetwater area or Alabama legalizing a lottery and/or medical Marijuana. Actually I highly doubt that Alabama will legalize either of the latter two but one thing is for sure and that is that the construction work on the Sweetwater Roundabout is taking far longer than promised. 9 more weeks of work are now promised but Work is threatening some of the new businesses in the area.
I was down by the area today and from the looks of it they are way behind whats been promised and looking at it I have no idea how much longer these businesses are going to have to tolerate the inconvenience. According to the contract with Keenum construction work is to be completed no longer than 120 calendar days after it starts and I know that isn't going to happen.
Now there is talk about possibly putting another roundabout at the intersection of Middle Rd and Gresham Rd. Given the pace that the first area roundabout is going I can't imagine tying up that intersection, which is much more critical and busy then the one at Sweetwater. Not to worry though because a backup plan is to place yet another traffic control light at the Middle Rd/Gresham Rd intersection in case a roundabout is not chosen.
