Not a common sight but a rare site that does happen. If it was solid white with pink eyes and pink hoofs it was an albino. If it had the typical black eyes and some brown or muddy brown and even spots on it it was what is called a piebald deer. Look it up under Google and select images and you will see pictures of them. I have seen only two out in the wild in my some 30 years of hunting here in North Alabama that were true albinos. I have seen a couple of piebald deer and have a couple of pictures from my cameras that I set out to get pictures of deer. It is a genetic issue and the deer are perfectly healthy. There is another type of whitetail that is almost solid black and it is called Melanistic Whitetail deer that are extremely rare. This is caused by their bodies produce far too much of the pigment known as melanin.
The piebald deer are some of the most beautiful that I have seen. Some look like a paint Horse or a cow with the coloration. I would like to see that albino armadillo also.
Joy, I was driving down a country road, just South of Rogersville. I saw something lying beside the road. To my surprise, it was an armadillo. When I got to my cousin's house, his wife said "they are like Rabbits around here". I had no idea, as I hadn't been home for a while. Then I hear that alligator's have been seen in the river and been killed near you, I think. Worst thing I have found in the filter of my pool, was a nest of baby mice. Wanna trade?
