I accidentally clicked on page one instead of the end - had forgotten the beginning of this discussion. Well, page one led to page two which led to page three where I found the above quote and had to laugh. Boy, 'mean' had no idea what an understatement that description would become on page 3 of the current 97. LOL

Joy to the World, of course. Does this mean I've been quoted? Probably not. Always a bridesmaid, never a bride...haha, just kidding. I don't care if you quote me. Just make sure you include my whole name...Joy to the World. That way when all my fans need to get in touch with me, they can just google "Joy to the World" and there I'll be. Big Grin

Micah, you tell me you use your own name, just as I do on the Forum. I was not sure about this, for the vast majority of people do not. And you are right that I should not use your name in any articles on other venues without your permission. I have no problem honoring this request. But, do you have any problem with me putting a pseudonym, such as Sam or John, on your questions or comments and sharing them when I feel you have raised a good point which will edify others? Keep in mind that I will be sharing your questions and comments only; not your personal name or information. In this way, you are participating with me in sharing the Gospel; but, your privacy is protected. Actually, I prefer this way -- just as when I send e-mail to my Friends Ministry, or to any group of people, I always use the BCC (Blind Copy) mode of addressing. Doing this, when my Friends get my e-mails, only their name appears on it -- and all of the other recipient names are deleted.

I dont care if you use my name, nor do I think others would mind, just ask.
Hi Manda,

You say, "I have no problem whatsoever with you sharing your views with others. You could type your own words til the end of time, as long as it is "YOUR" words. Where I have a problem (whileas others might not), is when you take someone else's words from /THIS/ forum and use it as a buffer for whatever you are wanting to share. It's essentially plagiarism, you don't have permission to take those statements and use them as you see fit. That's what I mean. Now, TD may allow it, and if they do, there's not much any of us can say or do about it."

BILL'S REPLY: When you post on an open Forum, your words are no longer private. If you want to communicate privately with someone, you should use e-mail or a PM.

When you say, "It's essentially plagiarism" -- this shows that you do not understand the term "plagiarism." Plagiarism is when you take another's writing or words and claim them to be your own. This is why I am always careful to mention who asked the question, to give credit to that person, and to the TimesDaily Forum. I have never claimed that the question or comment which I am answering is mine; but, that someone, using a pseudonym, has asked this on a public Forum.

But, once again, Manda, I will ask you: If you ask the question, "Does God exist?" -- and I tell folks you asked this question -- what harm has been done? It is not as though you have just disclosed a great theory on physics; it is simply a good question which offers an opportunity for me to write an answer. So, again, what harm? Possibly something wonderful could result from our dialogue; but what harm have you suffered?

Think about it.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

I find it interesting that you don't bother to ask me to show where slavery, rape, murder and killing your own child is condoned but you ask me to prove that the least of these atrocities, wife-beating, is condoned.

Genesis 3:16 God decrees that as a result of the “fall” the wife will henceforth be ruled over by her husband thereby relegating women to the status of a slave. Even Jesus condoned beating slaves into submission. In any case, this second class status for women is reinforced throughout the Bible. And you girls just eat this stuff up. Amazing.

Honestly, I'm not sure if there are any direct examples of the bible condoning wife-beating but it is abundantly clear that the bible looks upon women as possessions that are to be traded, stoned, enslaved and raped with the approval of The Almighty (and yes, I can provide examples of every one of those). In light of those condonations, wife-beating would seem to be an obvious past time as well.

GoFish, this treatment of women is exactly what Jesus condemned. He commanded a husband to love his wife as He had loved the church--enough to die for it. Also, the NT states a wife should not longer fear divorce, for her Christian husband would never do so; ergo, she doesn't need to wear her "life savings" in case of instant repudiation.
blah. I meant Copyright infringement. *shakes head*

Either way, you should have gotten the point.

If I ask a question that has religious overtones to it, it certainly won't be to you.

Can you not see how inflated your ego is? At least I don't talk about myself like I'm in third person. I mean, geez, man, come on!

Even you mistunderstood Micah on what he meant. Look above. He might not mind if you ask, I would.

I know what Plagarism is, but of course, your pompous self couldn't help /trying/ to explain it to me.

I help run a website that has over 60 thousand members. Trust me. I definitely know what plagarism is. I also know what rules go into most forums and websites. I KNOW for a fact, if you pulled this kind of crappola on the website I work with, then you would have a lawsuit on your hands. BECAUSE, you didn't ask permission.

You claim this mass intelligence, but you don't understand the common courtesy that goes into using someone else's words. Another thing, This is a Privately Owned website that is open to the public. That does /not/ mean that my words are not protected. I'd have to assume if the website I work with (and countless others I've used in the past), has some sort of copyrighting code in their rules, then TD probably does too.

Granted, they probably wouldn't sue you for it, but that does /not/ mean you can just take material from anywhere and use it for your own purposes.

*shakes head* Such a simple thing really, but for some reason you don't understand.

Again, I'm not going to go in a circle arguing religious with someone that really could careless how I felt on matters, as long as 'he' could one up on me. Nah, it's tempting, but I'm not easily led into that kind of temptation.

Smiler There, I'm done. Smiler

First to Michah: This is not just a Christian board. I'm a Christian. GoFish isn't. We're both welcome here. Don't tell him or anyone else they're not welcome. Second, son, if you waited until your wife's fourth affair to divorce her, you're not playing with a full deck.

I would rather play with a half a deck then a half a bible

Thank you, what4....I think.
But you have me all wrong. I am not a Christian, I'm not even sure what it takes to be one. I'm sure you & Bill could tell me, but please....resist the urge.
I'll give you one thing though. I am honest almost to the point of being rude but I don't mean to hurt anyone.

I promise not to beet you over the head with the bible! I wasn't walking on the right path for ten years, and the last thing I wanted was someone else telling me to go to church! However if you would like to pm me I will tell you my personal story and let you draw your own conclusions
Right on, What for! I've missed out on a lot of topics because of work and sleep, but I went back over everything and I saw what had been posted towards me. now I've been in construction all my life until some injuries put me down, so I'm not thin skinned! I have been called everything you can be called and it doesn't bother me! I feel I owe an explanation for my defence of Joy To The World! I have a deep ingrained respect for ladies, and I would not dare talk that way around one. Vick, you made a comment that if you were younger you could have seduced me. 2 or 3 years ago you probably could have, not now. I want to be married again and raise a family (along with my beautiful daughter Angel Grace Eaton) but to have sex with someone now is cheating on my future wife and I haven't and will never cheat.
So dont try! As for me being a few short of the deck, I may be! but I do not believe in divorce I think till death do us part means just that! That is why I gave her chances. the next one I will be sure before I let hormones take over!
Hi Taciturn,

Thank you for the heads-up, "What4, I think Vick has blocked you & Bill so she won't see your post.
If you & Bill would shorten your post, more might read them."

However, since my purpose in writing is not to reach Vick, although I would love to be her Christian Friend, I have to write my answers in the best way that I can. There are issues which cannot be explained in one or two sentences -- and since these are issues I believe to be very important to many people -- I will have to choose to address my writings to them.

Caustic and cutting remarks can be made in one or two sentences. Explaining the ways of God cannot. I choose to share the Word of God.

You see, Taciturn, I am not on the Forum to argue with atheists or to entertain them -- but, to shine the Light of the Gospel over their darkness. If the length offends you and some others; I truly apologize. But, the truth has to be writtten. I do pray that you understand -- it is not ego, nor lifiting myself up -- it is lifting Jesus Christ up to the world that is really important.

Thank you for your suggestion.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Micah, while I can't speak for Vick totally, I think if you read further, she states she was speaking facetiously.

Second, I think anyone who puts up with a wife who cheats four times is not thinking properly. I didn't know you had a child, but that makes it worse. Is your ex-wife the kind of woman you want to raise your child? What kind of Christian example would she be? Your daughter will learn that it is all righ to tupp anyone at anytime. She will learn committments aren't to be kept. Also, do you think your friends would have respected you or felt sorry for you? You could not have expected to hold any church office with such a wife. I'm sure you will make a better selection next time, but just don't hurry into anything. God gave us a brain and expects us to use it.

Micah, Jesus states in Matt. 19 that adultery is grounds for divorce. I'm the one not omitting or adding.

Micah,

Now I want you to re-examine these points. First, Chriss Angel is a magician. His job is to appear to do the impossible. But it's all tricks, not possession.

Who found Noah's Ark? I'm familiar with a hoaxter who pretended to. He fried wood in a wok with teriyaki sauce, then burned it, and lots of church people sent him money for a small bit of the "Ark".

And yes, there are valid, scientific reasons to surmise the Big Bang happened. There are better reasons to believe that the 6 day Creation is a myth.

Bill,

If you think Creationism is a light in the darkness, you have it all backward. For 1000 years, European civilization abandoned science for the myths of the too-religious. That period of time was called The Dark Ages.

Dark.

Needing light.

And you would happily take us back to them. We're not following you there. Been there, done that, got better.

Hi, MDM, I'm DeepFat.

First, how do we know you're really Micah's ex? Anyone could say so. Not that I'm accusing you of lying, but you know how the internet works.

Second, the admins of the forum look carefully and cricially at personal accusations, with names, of private people. FYI.

That said, welcome in! Join the discussion. It's been a rocking chat so far.
