As I see it, Republicans are smarter, so they aren't caught as often.
It is sad to say the least. White collar crime is legal and none white collar crime is punishable by law with fines and jail time. Let’s make white collar crime pay the same price and you will have as many republicans in jail in trouble as democrats.
By the way I am a republican; I voted of Bush, I voted straight republican in the last elections. Let’s get real on what is happening in our society.
Both parties are severely BROKE. When a company can steal form its workers and stock holders that is stealing the same as if you walk into Wal-Mart and take something. But White collar crime is legal in so many cases. Stealing is wrong and Democrats and Republicans are both wrong.
Remember when the “term limits” came in to vogue. What happened? Democrats and Republicans both voted to award themselves life time pensions to off set the peoples desire to correct corruption in Washington. No Republicans are as guilty as Democrats because they like this perk and it makes it easy for them to say “don’t worry” everything is fine whey you and I are left to pay the price for their greed.

Here is the way I see it:
As the years have gone by, people have been held less and less accountable for their actions. In the ole days people cared more about honesty and respect than money and power. Well it has progressed to be the other way around.
People don't fear being prosecuted or arrested anymore because it usually don't mean much more than a slap on the wrist and they know it!
Even the criminals know the system so well, that they continue to commit crimes over and over and usually don't have to pay for it.
This problem will only become worse as time goes on unless some laws are changed and penalties are stiffened.
The fact is, our society has become very
spoiled!

Agree. People do not take responsibility for their own actions anymore.
Until we stop with the 'society did it' and go back to 'I did it', nothing will improve.

I also think that criminals are more socially accepeted than they used to be. The root of this problem goes back to the way a person grew up. Did their parents make excuses for them and not want anyone to disciple them for fear of diminishing their "Spirit"? Probably so.
Spare rod, spoil the child. Now these children are the adults that have never had to answer for anything they do. They think, why should I have to answer to anyone or obey a law now?
