Well it's that time of year again and once again folks in the "SHOALS" will have to make their choices for 'who do we hate now'.
Wouldn't it be great if, just for once, it would not be the USUAL minorities. You have a great start with Jimmy, Neese that is.
Let's leave out the poor and disadvantaged, Lord knows they have enough to worry about now. I guess that leaves us with those "DIFFERENT" than us or better yet folks "not from around here".
How about that old standby of some one, no matter how deserving, getting something that we don't. Now that's a good one. Let's mix in a little of our usual ethenic hate and SHAZAM! we have a winner.
I, personally think hate is counter productive but to some "it just feels sooo good", to have some one, anyone, even children to hate. It elevates the mind, looking down from our lofty perch of "better than you".
Ah, good people make this choice carefully, it may have to last you all year.
What ever you decide, who ever you decide, never let anyone tell you that is self loathing that precipitates your wrath. Lord knows we are perfect here in the Shoals, well at least you and I are but I am not too, too sure about you.
Just an old codger irritating other old codgers.

Quarrles you left out so many groups I can't make up mind which to choose. Make sure that who ever you decide on they won't be able to defend theyselves, like no computers or Spanish speaking children, they are helpless too.
This is a great topic the bigots will be running out of the woodwork for this one, wrapped in rubber sheets for the bed wetters among them.
Well, I think instead of trying to find someone to hate- find someone to love. Use your energy to the positive and see how many people you can affect that way.

Make an effort, an honest effort, to smile at EVERY person you meet today and see who will smile back. You might give someone a good feeling in their heart just by smiling----let the hate go. Forget and move on....
Quarrles: I don't hate anyone! I have strong disagreements with the following: President Bush (well borderline hatred); Republicans (once again: hate the sin, not the sinner), Florence City Council (except Scott Carrier; again sorry for that tired disclaimer), members of the journalistic staff of the Times-Daily (who I won't name) and all of these I only mildly disagree with or dislike. Now for HATRED: MY EX-WIFE!
