I think that Alaska's Senior Statesman was there for comedy relief. Though he has made some very insightful observations over the past months.

I am an old man, I remember the debates that were held in the National Newspapers. Eisenhower would make a speech in Kentucky or Illinois, and Stevenson would respond from a stump in New Hampshire or Texas. They went on for days and days, and not one reporter had a chance to "frame" the debate.

Today, the debates are one a month for about 5 months. In between they egnore each other with studied care.

I do miss the good old days.
