The ones I like: Bobby Jindal,

Meh. Maybe. He is still sort of an unknown really.

Chris Chritie,

I don't know much about him other than that he was pretty hard line on the NJ budget and that he has some pretty heavyweight conservatives behind him (like Ann Coulter).

Jeb Bush

Hell no. Regardless what one thinks of Jeb, his winning the nomination would be an automatic loss come primary time. Does Jeb really think he has a chance with that family name? "Bush" is like the mark of Cain in politics and the media would be relentless in making sure GW's policies were somehow tied to Jeb.

Herman Cain

Don't know much about him.

quote:
Huckabee

Too much of a religious evangelical for my tastes. Most of the Huck fervor in 2008 was pretty much the result of a diehard and very vocal sect of evangelicals. Further, his policies in Arkansas were really anything but conservative; I think his GOP opponents during the 2008 elections illustrated that beyond any doubt. He's a nice guy and a very good speaker but that's about it.

Paul Ryan

He talks the talk, but does he walk the walk? I don't know much about him except for his infamous talk with Glenn Beck.

quote:
Donald Trump

A man with loads of cash and nothing to lose. He isn't afraid to speak his mind and avoid all the PC BS that is so endemic in modern politics. I like his talk (especially about OPEC and the Chinese), but I am not so sure those issues can be resolved by merely having a tough president in office. Our economy is so intertwined with China's that throwing the middle finger at them might not be the best idea (even though I do agree with his sentiment that we are getting screwed while they laugh all the way to the bank). Plus the Donald has a lot of baggage, let's be honest.

I agree. People throw around "liberty" and "freedom" like a rag doll, but we have not to date lost any of either, but have in fact expanded both.
Although the "conservatives" talk a lot about "small, un-intrusive government" very few live up to the talk.
a couple of examples maybe to clearify my point:
New gov in Fla campaigned all about small government, but NOW, he wants his state to do drug testing on all state employees. (of course he OWNS a drug testing facility) Is that big government or small government.
the new Republican bunch in Congress has is trying to pass any number of laws that would require the fed government to monitor a pregnant woman throughout her entire pregnancy to insure she does not have an abortion. Is that big government or small government.
The Rep lot in Congress wants to decree who a person can sleep with and marry. Is that big government or small government.

They are LIARS ! THE REPUBLICANS IN CONGRESS ARE FOR BIG GOVERNMENT. NOT small government like they say.
