Recently a Christian from Australia wrote to ask, "Why are American Christians so bloodthirsty? Why do they support the war in Iraq, no matter how many innocent people are made to suffer? We just don't understand why they're willing to kill other people so that they can feel more safe – it's so selfish!" or maybe this is why,

No matter how bad it gets, nothing seems to change Americans' support for war, which for some reason is stiffest among Christian supporters of the Bush administration. "Stuff happens in a war zone." "Don't worry because God is in control." With these and other slogans, I've been reassured by countless pro-war Christians that, as long as civilians aren't intentionally targeted, taking their lives is okay, maybe even predestined, God's will.

I'm not trying to be a smart aleck, but...Not all Christians are for the war. Everyone for the war is not a Christian. Therefore, I would tell the Australian he's been misinformed.

I know Christians that for a long time hung on to support of Pres. Bush. I think it was difficult for them to admit the man might not be what he appears to be, mainly because they desperately want someone with integrity in the White House.

On the other hand, I know Christians who are against the vast majority of decisions made by the Bush administration.

Basically, people don't fit in boxes with labels. We're complicated. That's why I don't like generalizations. They're rarely if ever accurate.

I agree, and if will read on down alittle futher you will see the articles point. its talking about what you're saying in so many words. most christians are not informed, and misled by the mainstream media.
Okay, I read it.

Most Christians I know are intelligent and remain informed to avoid just that...being misled. More importantly, truth is very important to Christians. We are more guarded and less likely to believe something simply because it's said by an eloquent speaker...first and foremost the mainstream media which we rarely agree with on anything. Even in church, you can make it sound pretty, but if you don't back it up with scripture, you're just blowing smoke. I hear these strange ideas of brainwashing alot from people who don't actually go to church.

I'm sure this fellow is an excellent writer, but he is a writer of pure conjecture. JMHO

Christians must seek truth!! Seek you shall find! knock and the door will be open! Christians did'nt have media back in the old days like we do today, but they had to seek truth! same today!
JOY! YOU'RE BACK!!!!!!!!!! THERE IS A GOD! You have been sorely missed! As you probably can tell, the little board that started out has changed drastically but I still try to enlighten, frighten and irritate when possible about LOCAL issues! I am sure Kindred, Max and others who were here at the conception will be glad to see ya! I know I am. WELCOME BACK! THE DOG
Yeah, you got it right Joy! This is someone else(that was a pain in the *** before) but won't admit it. You are very astute as this: didn't fool any of us when the screenname was changed. Only that this time the poster has effectively taken over the board! I don't usually respond to the posts, ALL are national and usually flamers, but if you want to PM I will give you the 411. THE DOG

All that doesn't matter a whit. I know lots of Christians, and they just can't
wait to die so they can go to heaven and be with their Lord. I visited a nursing home today and all the inmates were wanting to go somewhere. I assume it was heaven , Although
some woman kept asking me for a ride to Sheffield

Can't wait to die? Are you exaggerating a little maybe? Yeah, they know this earth is not the end & they feel secure in where they will go after death, but can't wait? Maybe you mean they can't wait to see Jesus. That's different. I can't wait to see my Dad (he's deceased) but I'm not DYING to see him. Smiler

PBA: ENOUGH ALREADY! Who do you think you are the AP wire? You have clogged this board with newstories like you were Walter Cronkite himself. I don't know about everyone else, I vowed to ignore you but this is getting to the point of ridiculous! GO TO A NATIONAL BOARD AND LEAVE THIS ONE ALONE! There are plenty out there. You obviously don't know or don't care what is happening in the Shoals area and I for one will tell what I know A LOT of posters are wishing, that you would disappear! THE DOG
