While your position is laudable LE89, you will notice that ferrellj just COULDN'T pass up the opportunity to give you a slam by comparing your first post to mine, and GOD knows I am the DEVIL to all right wingers on this forum.
I don't personally recall being slammed by ferrellj and have looked and I don't see it.
I have stated my opinions on this forum a few times now and been slammed no matter what I say about any subject.
I can accept MOST anyone's right to believe anything they choose however when I am ridiculed for my own thoughts it becomes difficult to remain civil sometimes. I try not to say anything here I would not say in front of a crowd. Knowing a lot of issues are 50/50, I would not intentionally insult 50% of any crowd by calling them names over their party choice, news they watch, social views, etc. In turn, I would expect not to be insulted for the same reasons, but when I am, the gloves come off.
I will continue to try to remain civil on most any issue. I consider myself to be fairly conservative, my best friend is extremely liberal (in my opinion). He's still my best friend. When we venture a discussion on political or social issues, it almost always ends with an impass very quickly. We both acknowledge each other's right to our opinions, the most important part. We don't insult each other. We're still best friends, have been for over 35 years.
I said in another post, I want majority to rule, period. Only when the time comes though. I do NOT want the minority of any issue to be victorious ahead of their time. I do not want a civil war by any means, but I do not want the minority of any issue steering the wagon. I want Gov't to listen to the people who put them in Office, not to the people who opposed putting them in office. If that is done, majority will always rule, and it will always be fair. Society will adapt as needed. On some issues, there is no middle ground, which creates turmoil, but again majority rules and I will accept that either way, as long as the majority is listened to.
Before anyone construes "majority or minority" as a party or racial spew, spare me, I am talking about numbers, people, population, period.
