we used to have hollywood inn, nana's kitchen, hollywood 2 across the shoal creek bridge and lock stock and barrel. now the only place in florence to get a meat and 3 that i know of is food world. of course there's a few meat and 3 across the river, but here in florence we have 1 that i know of. please tell me of others if you know.

if i were going to open a restaurant in florence it would be a meat and 3 with meatloaf, chicken and dumplings and chicken and dressing. with the way my wife and i cooks it would be a huge hit.

Dade, you put the words right into my mouth! We had country ribs browned and simmered very slowly in Vlassic sauerkraut, baked sweet potatoes , and rye bread for dinner. Tatal prep time about 10 minutes. Cooking skill required: alomost zero. We skipped the third veggie because we did not want another! Some type of baked beans would have worked! Even some of Junior's white beans would have been good! The meat and three's do an awfully lot of opening cans and putting unseastoned food on the plate! You can do this! I have more low intensity and fast menus than you can think of on tap. Let me know when you want one. Save at least #10 on each homecooked meal and buy something really neat! No shoes, no shirt, no gas expenditure!

i'm not asking for me, i'm asking for my father in law who lives alone and doesn't cook a lot. tonight my wife and i made homemade chicken and dumplings, asparagus and grillin' beans. i would rather cook my own but for people living alone, a meat and 3 is good.

as far as the list goes, almost everything is across the river. my father in law doesn't drive, so close by is better.

does jenn's cafe offer meat and 3? what about legend's?
Meals on Wheels delivers frozen food on the weekends. Why don't you freeze containers of that good stuuf you cook and run it by your FIL's every few days" Coupled with eating out it would be great for him! It would save him a great amount of money and he would know you care also. My problem is cooking for two and trying not to waste the food tha is always left over. I miscontrued your last statement - have met you and could not imagine your not cookng at your house! Have a good day - and a good dinner!

trust me, when we cook, we cook a lot and he get's the hook up. the only problem is we don't cook meat and 3 as much as he would like. out taste is way different. he likes country cooking we like different. we cook a lot of mexican and italian. we go out for chinese and japanese.

i wish the village cafe had better hours. i think they close at 2:00 everyday?

granny's is the answer. good cheap country food!
yes, it smells like a party in there, but take out is the way to go.

btw, if i had my own restaurant, it would be called the soul kitchen and it wouldn't be bland. i like to cook with spice.
NOLA, I am an electic cook also. Years ago, I asked my MIL if she wanted to stay for lunch. She looked at my traditional chop suey recipe(BHG 50 years old) and said, "Is THAT what you are going to have? She then took the car keys from her purse and was out the door! LOL! If you look at the meat and 3 ad in the TD today you will see there are 4 veggies from a can on the plate - that is one of my points! Any of these served at my house would have some sort of elaboration. Bon appetit!
LEGENDS is the best!! My sister lives in Montgomery and she insists on going to Legends every time she comes to town because she says they have nothing like it in Montgomery. I know it isn't JUST a meat and three. Their menu is more varied, but if all you want is a plain ole traditional plate of food, there's no place better than Legends.
