Well I'm 47 and I remember free water up into my teens before the yuppies popularized the bottled water (which comes out of the same plumbing that your free water came from but now ya gotta pay for the materials labor that went into the making of the crappy bottle and the label.

Pfft. I still drink out of the garden hose.

I think yuppies had a liking for french bottled water. I think it came benzene flavored.

Never have I paid for a cup of water-anywhere. You wanna pay for it-Knock yaself out.

Flatus: Yeah, I heard about that. I remember reading the label on the side of a "Crystal Rock" water bottle (Popular brand where I'm from) and noting that the source was a place located in the immeduiate vicinity of three gas stations, and a metal-plating shop right in the middle of downtown Danbury, CT.

So much for "pure", eh?

England is about as big as Rhode Island. The little villages most live in make it possible to walk almost anywhere they need to go, they ride bicycles too, and their cars are all little "econo boxes". There are exceptions but not enough to make the price of gasoline a burden to them.

Well, Goober, people that have jobs and pay taxes made it possible for the construction of the infrastructure that provides you with your "free" water. We also provided you with an opportunity for a "free" education, which you must have declined.
i think we may see a fundamental shift in the crude oil market. If countries like Saudi, and Libya are suddenly more free market based, instead of dictatorships that funnel oil money to a select few, the cost of crude from those countries will shoot up sharply and stay there.

I give China credit for their oil contracts with some African countries that allow unlimited pumping and a fixed cost of less than $5/barrel being paid to the particular dictator. US companies refused to bid on such contracts because of the human rights violations performed by said dictators.
