Either way someone in a previous thread posted from a site what I have been quoting, "that 1% has as much wealth as 90% of the people. " This one percent does not pay 90% of the taxes. And as I have stated tax rates were higher, much higher, on the wealthy and corporations for decades before the "Reagan Revolution" lowered them. No millionaire lost their money and we all enhjoyed a better quality and standard of life. Most of this scare talk is from the greedy that's fed to you by the media pundits who are paid by the greedy. taxing the very wealthy is not a crime and is a basic principle of Capitalism. We are society and the reason they make these profits are off the labor of the workers, who should also share in the profits. Governments are instituted by men (people) to secure the unailable right of all the people in the society to "Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness." The Governemnt is govenrment of all the people and has a responibility to all the people, not just the greedy rich.

Also, thanks for the support Kindred_Spirit and don't worry about this crew. They are heavily propagandized and taught to defend what they are told. That's why I keep talking about alternative and progressive sites. If you check it out you will be encouraged to find there is a whole nation and world outside of Alabama and this Forum. There are many people out there that do think and question and they are growing. I also post on AOL and I have seen the tide turning over the last few years.
Many people are waking up. It's why the democrats took congress.

But they were lied too by democrats who have not caved on many issues but many people are still moving forward.

I think it's total crap. You don't deserve someone else's money. When you take a job, you agree to a wage. You do your work and you're paid what you are agreed to. That's what you deserve. If you don't like what you are paid, quit and find something else or start your own business.

The workers are not entitled to profits, profits go to the owner of the company. That's his wage for starting and running a business and giving you a job. Saying that you deserve a share of the profits is like saying you deserve money right out of the owner's personal checking account, even though you are being paid through the company's expense budget. How many companies would stay in business if they paid their employees a wage plus a portion of the owners pay check?

If you want to share in the profits, you must share the risk also. For every company that makes it to the top, hundreds fail and fall by the wayside. Laborers invest nothing but their labor, which is compensated by wages. First, it is not a site that I quoted, it is a book - and the quote is:

You can go buy the book at Amazon.com or maybe even at your local Barnes & Noble. Lets look at that quote for what it is. The top 1% owns almost 35% of the wealth. The lower 90% owns less than that, so let's say 34% of the wealth. That is 31% of the wealth left over to the middle 8% of the population. In that light, the middle class isn't doing too shady. And again, Pogo, what is wealth?. Wealth is things that you have beyond your debt. In other words, wealth is Assets - Liabilities = Wealth. Americans have a negative savings rate. They spend more than they make, that is why they have no wealth. We are a society of people living on credit, buying today, and paying tomorrow. The wealthy are those that live within their means.

Taxes. We pay taxes on income, as we earn it. If I earn $100,000 per year and only spend $25,000 per year then I will have a million dollars in 15 years or so. Excuse the math, it's off the cuff. Now - in year 15 do you want me to pay taxes on my $1 million dollars? That is not fair, I've been paying taxes on my $100,000 every year as I earned it. The rich do pay taxes. The rich do not spend every cent they earn, plus some - like the average American. That is why they are rich.

Exactly NashBama. You don't "deserve" two cars, a big house, or money in the bank simply because, as Dave says, "you breath air".

That's why everything is taxed so much now, politicians trying to give people what they think they "deserve" in exchange for votes. What is hard for me to understand is why some people, instead of questioning some of these things our government provides to people that "deserve" them, believe it's great to provide these things, "as long as you take it from someone else."

I think that if we started putting a name and a face to the welfare benefits, we'd see a sharp decrease. They could run Welfare like "feed the children". You get a picture and a name and an address of the family your tax dollars are going to support. They send you weekly updates telling you how they are using your money and what good things they are doing. That would make me feel better about helping them out. Once I find out that Jane and John are buying cigarettes or beer or Aeropostale clothes, the benefits would be off like a light switch.

For those who missed this the first go-around, I will repost it... I have made a very respected member of this forum a promise, and until I feel other "THREATS" coming my way, or toward some of the others, I am going to follow this member's advice.

I swear to God in Heaven that I have more information than any of you can even imagine, but y'all just missed it, as you did THIS comment above... And just today, I had 2 other things that I hadn't even seen sent to me..

But, I agree with this respected member, (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE) that I need to let it go for a while... maybe not forever, just for a while, and to STOP hijacking the posts with all the nonesense this has caused... I also agreed and promised that too....

Any other question or comment concerning my photobucket account and what is there, please put them in the form of PM's and leave it off the main boards, because some here just don't WANT to really hear it (although you wanted to SEE it, lol) and others are literally going nuts over it...

KS, I think maybe you have missed something here. John posted this on June sixeenth. It is nothing new. He was commenting on you AND TSC. He did not single you out. Since it is ten(10)days old, you can hardly call that obsession. I don't understand this post, seeing that you are the one off-topic. IMOPO, I think everyone has tired of the childishness, long ago. John, and Nash, and I had tried to make lite of the whole mess(cotton candy, pop corn, etc.), because it seemed to go on endlessly. Now, here we go again? Look at the dates, and times. I think everyone has moved on. It looked like your last post on this thread had said all this already? Then, you go back and pick up a comment that is ten days old and start all over. I am thinking of starting a side-line business, and of course I want to make a profit.. but I also would like it to where I could actually hire GOOD people, who was trustworthy and offer at least medical insurance... Does ANY of you business owners know about what it would cost to offer insurance to probably about 20-25 people, and what, if anything, would their part of the premium be??

And another thing, the alleged attack that I keep getting accused of started on ANOTHER post and crept on to this one, and then THIS post got all the replies, and I have a copy of the other one, ...

Unless I am off because of inflation, it is about 200 dollars per person per month for a group policy covering employees at about 85% with a 500 dollar deductible. The cost can be split so that employees pay up to all of the premium. The cost per each goes down as the number increases. In most cases if you require the employee to pay all or part of the premium the enrollment MUST be voluntary, bu tif you choose to pay all the premium for revenue you can provide it for all the workers. The problem here is you have some workers with families and some without.

So Kindred, Shop Around locally, and see what you can do.

The tax on gas is a per/gallon tax. That does not diminish the fact that the government makes more money per gallon of gasoline then the oil companies.

Rising prices and reduced consumption have cut the government revenues, but the PROFIT that the government makes off of a gallon of gas is more than the oil companies make. And I don't think consumption has fallen much in recent months or years.

AS to the "record profits" that the oil companies are raking in - there is a difference between a profit and a profit margin. People seem to get the two confused or they are just ignorant that there is a difference. Compare the Profit Margins from the oil companies over the past several years and you will find them to be relatively flat.

Price gouging? Are you kidding me?? In gas prices? Can't and does not happen. Why? Because the government fixes the prices and does not allow the oil companies to discount the prices below the set guidelines. Also, there is a ridiculous law in Alabama pertaining to gasoline pricing that has to do with "predatory pricing". In other words, a gas station must sell their gas for at least a certain price or get fined and risk being shut down. Anyone with a basic grasp of economics knows that Predatory Pricing is a myth at best and it it were for real, it would only benefit the consumer. There is no price gouging by anyone in the oil industry - except the government.
