Got to be one of the most ignorant - not to mention sexist - threads I've ever read. ferrellj, I almost never agree with you but at least I had some respect for your opinions....until now.

So I guess, as a woman, I'll respond in a way you can understand.

I can sum up my reaction with a famous quote from Judge Judy: "Beauty fades. Dumb is forever." Let's compare these ladies, shall we?

In the Republican corner:

Sarah Palin - Caribou Barbie graduated from the University of Idaho, communications major; can't name ONE Founding Father (Glenn Beck interview) or a major news publication (disastrous Katie Couric interview). Miss Wasilla also writes on her hand to remember important talking points like energy policy and tax cuts, oh and lifting America's spirit.

Angie Harmon - Is she still an actress? Funny, haven't seen her on anything lately. Oh, right, she's married to a football player or something. Fantastic accomplishment!

Laura Ingraham - Is hostile towards everyone that doesn't think and believe exactly as she does (including following Catholicism). Hypocrite: Was against all bailouts except the one for GM. Could that have anything to do with GM being one of the sponsors of her radio show? Hmmmm. Frequently advocates "family values" yet adopted two children without benefit of marriage; her children have no father. Oh, she also dated Keith Olbermann. Wink

Carrie Prejean - Hahahahaha! I refer back to Judge Judy's quote.

Elizabeth Hasselbeck - Boston College, fine arts; bimbo who can't argue a political point, but can talk all day about Dolce and Gabbana handbags. Also married to a football player.

Janine Turner - Another actress without much work since Northern Exposure went off the air about 15 years ago. Her opinion is relevant, if you're in need of information about dry eyes. Big Grin

The Democrats:
(Note: The accomplishments for these ladies are too numerous to post; google them sometime and compare with the ladies above.) Wink

Michelle Obama - Princeton University (cum laude); Harvard Law School, J.D.

Janet Reno - Cornell University, chemistry; Harvard Law School; first female Attorney General of the United States.

Nancy Pelosi - Trinity College, political science; first female Speaker of the House

Helen Thomas - First female officer of the National Press Club; first female member and president of the White House Correspondents Association; has covered presidents longer than most of us have been alive.

Madeline Albright - Wellesley College, political science; Columbia University (Masters of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy); first female U.S. Secretary of State

Hillary Clinton - Wellesley College, political science (again Wink Big Grin); Yale Law School, J.D.; current U.S. Secretary of State
Yeah, you sure are right butter, all these women are such losers. So, what have you done productive lately??

Sarah Palin:Sarah Louise Palin (pronounced /ˈpeɪlɨn/ ( listen); née Heath; born February 11, 1964) is an American politician, author, speaker, and political news commentator who served as the Governor of Alaska from 2006 until she resigned in 2009. She was the Republican nominee for Vice President of the United States in 2008.
Palin was a member of the Wasilla, Alaska City Council from 1992 to 1996, and the city's mayor from 1996 to 2002. After an unsuccessful campaign for Lieutenant Governor of Alaska in 2002, she chaired the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission from 2003 until she resigned in 2004. In November 2006 she became both the youngest person and the first woman ever elected Governor of Alaska.[9]
In August 2008 Republican presidential candidate John McCain chose Palin as his running mate in that year's presidential election, making her the second female and the first Alaskan on the national ticket of a major party, as well as the first female vice-presidential nominee of the Republican Party.

Angie Harmon:Angela Michelle "Angie" Harmon (born August 10, 1972) is an American fashion model and television/film actress. She became a well-known model in the 1990s and developed a career as a television star after roles on Baywatch Nights and Law & Order. She most recently starred in ABC's Tuesday evening drama Women's Murder Club.

Laura Anne Ingraham (born June 19, 1964) is an American radio host, author, and conservative political commentator. Her nationally-syndicated talk show, The Laura Ingraham Show, airs throughout the United States on Talk Radio Network. The Laura Ingraham Show is ranked eighth among most-listened-to talk radio programs, with an average 5.5 million weekly listeners.[1]Ingraham earned a bachelor's degree at Dartmouth College, in 1985, and a law degree at the University of Virginia School of Law, in 1991. As a Dartmouth undergraduate, she was a staff member of the independent conservative newspaper, The Dartmouth Review. In her senior year, she was the newspaper's editor-in-chief,[3] its first female editor

Elisabeth DelPadre Filarski[4] Elisabeth Hasselbeck was raised Catholic and attended St. Mary School in Cranston, followed by St. Mary Academy - Bay View in Riverside, Rhode Island where she graduated in 1995[5]. She then attended Boston College, where she captained the women's softball team for two seasons, winning consecutive Big East championships.[6] With a concentration on large paintings and industrial design, Hasselbeck graduated with a Fine Arts degree in 1999.[7] Hasselbeck started working for Puma in 1998, while attending Boston College. After graduation, she worked for Puma shoes as a member of its design team before her television career.[7]

Janine Turner (born Janine Loraine Gauntt; December 6, 1962)

In 1978, at the age of 15, she left home to pursue a modeling career with the Wilhelmina Modeling Agency. Turner began her acting career in 1980, appearing in several episodes of Dallas. She continued to make guest appearances on popular television shows throughout the 1980s before landing the role of Maggie O'Connell on Northern Exposure in 1990, a role that earned her an Emmy nomination.[1]
After her breakthrough in Northern Exposure, Turner appeared in the big budget action film Cliffhanger, opposite Sylvester Stallone. Turner next appeared as June Cleaver in a film adaptation of television's Leave it to Beaver.
In 2004, she wrote and directed Trip in a Summer Dress, a film about a strong-willed mother and her children. She has worked with actor and director Mike Norris in a number of recent projects. In 2006, she appeared in a low budget movie filmed in Dallas, The Night of the White Pants. In 2006, Turner was appointed a member of the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation.[2]
In 2008, Turner's book, Holding Her Head High: Inspiration from 12 Single Mothers Who Championed Their Children and Changed History, was released. The book focuses on single mothers through history, such as Rachel Lavein Fawcett, the abandoned single mother of Alexander Hamilton.
So, btchpls50, I take it you're okay with the sexist spirit of ferrellj's thread? Figures. Roll Eyes

BTW, Laura Ingraham and Ann Coulter are the only two women on his Republican list with any accomplishments that even come close to the women on the Democrat list. But as long as the Republican gals look pretty, spewing hate the way they do is okay, right?

Angie Harmon was a Calvin Klein model while Hasselbeck worked for Puma shoes. Bwahahahaha! Palin is just an airhead whose finger no thinking person wants on the little red button. Scary!

I'd rather have the brains of Madeline Albright than the beauty of Carrie Prejean any day. Wink

I did not find the thread sexist. It was humorous. To blatantly put any group of people into one category always lead to false assumptions. You can state the dems do not spew hate? Really? You have Pelosi calling the Tea Party 'AstroTurf', Obama finds them amusing, the WH is so terrified of Fox news they tried to shut it down. We have Wanda Sykes hoping for people to die, (ha ha), and the likes of MSNBC 'news' team making derogatory remarks.

So a designer for Puma shoes is stupid? A governor who also runs a business is an airhead?

You are on here spewing hate and I'll bet you look like Albright. Keep those brains polished, healthcare will be needing them for Biden. Smiler

I'm assuming by your name that your a female btch50....oh I meant female, btch50. I guess it would be humorous if an employer told you that since you look like Helen Thomas, and not Elizabeth Hasselbeck, you won't be hired or promoted. Real funny, huh? I mean, to be valued for only your outward appearance in 2010?

If you read - or picked up on - my post I said, "I'll respond in a way you can understand". To break that down for you: It means to get on ferrell's sexist level. Got it?

And it's not Hasselbeck's job as a "designer" for Puma shoes that makes her stupid. It's the fact that that's ALL she's accomplished and regularly gets pommeled by the other ladies on the panel of The View because her contributions are quite vacuous. And Palin isn't an airhead because she runs a business; I never said that. I said she was an airhead because of all the MANY reasons I've already mentioned.

Your quote:

You'll bet I look like Albright? You're now in the league with ferrell with that one. What should I come back with? I'm rubber and you're glue....I know you are but what am I....how about - judging by your posts - I bet you have the brains of Carrie Prejean?

As a woman who is married to a Republican, I am quite offended by this statement. While, it is true that I put a university education on hold to stay home and raise a family; I don't think that qualifies me as being "dumb as dirt".

I am the mother of six children. My two sons are currently on active duty in the Army and Navy, my husband is a federal employee and a member of the Army Reserve. I have one daughter attending the University of North Alabama and another attending Mississippi University for Women in the Fall. My two youngest daughters are also college-bound.

I am currently a senior at the University of North Alabama, majoring in Nursing.

I think I have accomplished quite a bit for being "barefoot, pregnant and dumb as dirt".

Funny. You're offended by that one post but not the initial pictures - and the intent behind them - on this thread. Great. Go have a few more Duggars and be happy.

And if you care to read, tcf531 said THEY (Republicans) like their women barefoot, pregnant, and dumb as dirt. Judging by the responses on this thread, I'm inclined to believe him/her.
Actually, none of it is funny. I never said I wasn't offended by the initial posting, I was greatly offended but thought your reply was sufficient.

I kept reading and was further offended by the comment: "feralj is a republican, they like their women barefoot, pregnant and dumb as dirt." I understood that to mean that male members of the Republican party like their women to be "dumb as dirt". I don't understand why that is any less offensive than this thread's initial post.
The pictures were of attractive Republican women and unattractive Democrat women. The Republican women were hardly barefoot or pregnant.

As usual, the left introduced a state of high dudgeon and resentment. Then, they indulged in personal attacks against the Republican women.

The left has a stunted sense of humor, at best. Being constantly aggrieved is their natural state. Its a sad way to go through life -- no sense of joy or wonder.
First congrats to PODfan,
Raising six kids and then going back to school, amazing. You have more guts than I.

Butter, you bashed the sexist attitude of the thread then proceeded to bash the rep women yourself. Same thing.

A man finding a woman attractive or not is human nature. I doubt you find too many men or women staring at pictures of ugly people.

Elisabeth was hailed as brilliant by Behar and the other View members when she said the 'crosshairs' remarks by Sarah Palin was objectionable

I thought you said you would rather look like Albright than Prejean. LOL.

Offended by pictures, pleeease, that's ridiculous. As for dumb as dirt, I have two college degrees, how many do you have?

Interventor,
Your new avatar reminds me of the "Death's Head" of the SS. Some how it fits you, maybe.
Juggie,

Thank you for a fine example of the the Democrat tactic of personal destruction. Saul Alinsky would be proud.

I was raised by an extended family that did their best to end the Nazi reign. My father and all but one of my uncles served in the European theater, in the Army and Army Air Force. One flew out of the airbase at Courtland in a bomber to England. Most of aunts and the one uncle that could not serve worked in the munitions plant. The aunts too young to work served at the USO in Muscle Shoals. Except for one of those uncles, they are all gone now, I honor their service.

My avatar is that of a character in an internet comic book. He's a good guy, just finds it hard to enjoy his brandy and cigars since he's a living skeleton.

Go back to your muddy pen and root around for swill with your fellow hogs.
interventor and btch,

I do have a sense of humor, a fantastic one for that matter. But this thread and the pictures are simply not funny. He purposefully posted the most attractive pics of the Repubs and the least attractive of the Dems under the thread title, "Why Republican Men Are Happier".

If the tables had been turned, you conservatives would have said something about the silliness of the thread. I would have been offended had the tables been turned as well because I'm not a Republican or a Democrat. The thread is just completely stupid. For a laugh he should have put it in Entertainment or Misc., not Politics.

Again, my original statement:

quote:

So I guess, as a woman, I'll respond in a way you can understand.

I RESPONDED IN A WAY HE COULD UNDERSTAND BY TURNING THE TABLES MYSELF (the only way a sexist understands). Geez, btch, with two degrees (WOW!!!) I'd think you could infer as much. Didn't learn too much about reasoning and deduction while earning your two degrees did you?

And I said I'd rather have the brains of Albright than the beauty of Prejean. At least read. Can you do that? You saying, "I'll bet you look like Albright" was just juvenile and you know it.

But, just so you know, I don't look like Albright. I've been told I'm an attractive woman many times. More importantly, I'm only in my 30's, not a btchpls50. Wink Of course, I realize that's not relevant in any way to this conversation; you apparently do not.

Please.
This whole discussion is stupid.

I would rather look at Johnny Depp than Ernest Borgnine, so what is the problem????

So find some pictures of ugly reps and pretty dems and be happy.

And butter, making fun of my screen name is juvenile.

So your 30, wait until you're forty. And if you're lucky you might make 50 despite Obama care. I'm pushing 55 so I know I'll be Soylent Green soon.

PS:Butter, it was a movie, look it up. Smiler

If this is comedy, your sense of humor is in serious need of tweaking. Go buy a couple of George Carlin and Richard Pryor cds, put in cd player, hit "play" and listen. Now that's comedy.

I realize by my reaction that most of you have already pegged me as a feminist; well I'm not. My political views are actually very complex. It's just that simple to some of you, though.

The fact is ALL women have had a tough row to hoe in terms of equality. Sure, you all say it was a joke, but this is the kind of crap that reinforces the idea that women are only valued for their looks. Have you seen Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck or Bill O'Reilly? You think they get botox injections? Apparently not; however, they're somehow still successful...arrogant dullards, but successful.

My mother's generation worked too hard for this nonsense to still be "funny" in 2010. Her generation was limited in career choice to teacher, nurse and secretary. So women wanted to stop making coffee and start making policy and you think making jokes about their looks is funny?

I had an instructor in college (about my mom's age) who told the class she originally wanted to be a veterinarian but COULD NOT pursue it because Auburn University did not accept women into the program at that time. That stuck with me. The pictures are not funny.

Are they still funny to you? Ask yourself that the next time you look at your wife, mother, sister. Should she be relegated to beauty queen or secretary because she's a woman? She has nothing else to offer?

Please, boys. Get a sense of humor and come back and post something that's truly funny.
Republican men are happier because -- wait for it -- IGNORANCE IS BLISS.
Republican men are happier because -- wait for it -- they think a double wide and a 5 year old pickup truck is "middle class living."
-- Tea Parties are not "so gay" any more.
-- they think life in the fast lane is watching cars go fast in circles.
-- all those good looking women are already taken, but they are taken by Republican Men. Hope Springs Eternal

i grew up with george carlin and richard pryor. and redd fox
and johnny carson. and mel brooks
and robin williams and bill cosby.
i'm also a huge fan of john pinette, carlos mencia, ralphie may, gabrial igleseis (sp?)eddie izzard, denis leary, dennis miller, jeff dunham, rodney carrington, christopher titus, sam kennison, mitch hedburg, chris rock, wanda sykes, eddie murphy, lewis black, all the blue coller guys, sinbad, the amazing jonathon, and so many more it doesn't even bear mentioning. i've seen ralphie, carlos, robin and carlin live.
i don't need to get a sense of humor.. i prolly need to tone my back and spend less time looking for the funny in everything.

i'm not sexist. women should be allowed to do anything they think they want to do, including in combat positions in the military, if that's what they chose.
they should also be paid the exact same as an equal quallified man for the same job.

i don't understand why you women whine about equality.. why would you want to drop in status to come down to equal?
women are in charge, period. no matter what men delude themselves with, or what pitiful excuses they use to puff up their own ego, women are in charge, in this country, as well as most others.

it's very simple.
if you have a football stadium with 100 000 single men present, and if one woman shows up the men are outnumbered.
why? because only that one woman knows if she is going to be having sex that evening, while the 100k men just have to wonder and hope.
men have been fooling themselves into thinking they are the king of their castle for several decades now, just because they can't cope with the idea the yaren't in charge anymore.

so.. why would you want to come down to have equality?

and regardless of all that, i even said i didn't find those pics all that funny. i was agreeing with you, to a far lesser degree. i said it wasn't completely worthless - not exactly high praise, and yet you still jump, because, like i said, you take your pet issues way to seriously.

get over yourself, you aren't that important.
and again, neither am i, i just don't pretend that i am to the point i can't take people poking fun at things i find important.

i'm mostly federally conservative, but i love jon stewart, and he's so liberal it's unreal. but i still find him funny when he takes cheap shots at my ideas of how the government should be run.

perhaps it is you that needs to develop a sence of humor, and apply it to yourself as well as the world around you.

i don't watch Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck or Bill O'Reilly, because they are arrogant dullards and pretty good examples of the worst of the republican party. i haven't noticed wether or not they botox, because i don't care. the truth is, i try to avoid all news, unless somethign specific is going on. i specifically avoid foxnews, cnn, msnbc and teh other big news networks because you can't get anything close to the straight news there. it's ALL spun in one direction or another.
foxnews leaves out stories that mention any american miliraty wrongdoings, while cnn won't show the military doing anything right.

everything is funny, if you look for the funny in it.
perhaps i spend so much time looking for the funny so i don't have to walk through life ticked off and offended at every turn.

NY Times/CBS poll shows tea partiers are better educated and more affluent than average. It appears your intel on tea partiers is in error.

women are in charge, period. no matter what men delude themselves with, or what pitiful excuses they use to puff up their own ego, women are in charge, in this country, as well as most others.

it's very simple.
if you have a football stadium with 100 000 single men present, and if one woman shows up the men are outnumbered.
why? because only that one woman knows if she is going to be having sex that evening, while the 100k men just have to wonder and hope.
men have been fooling themselves into thinking they are the king of their castle for several decades now, just because they can't cope with the idea the yaren't in charge anymore.

so.. why would you want to come down to have equality?

Seriously, I have no idea what you're saying with this, but it did make me laugh, so thanks.
