Question: Can a person(s) qualify and recieve WIC benefits without becoming a US citizen?
I ask because of an incident at a local food store, where there was a couple, with 4 children, and the mother had a folder full of WIC vouchers. They could have been "naturalized"citizens, however, they spoke little English, and had gotten items that did not meet the WIC guidelines, clearly printed on the instructions. The cashier had to explain, well, try to explain to them, about the items.
Needless to say, everyone in line went to another checkout, as this process was taking some time.
Of course the beer, cokes, candy etc was in a different cart.

My post is in reference to the thread a couple days earlier concerning the 'Rockpile cats'.
On this thread you make an assumption because these people do not speak clear English. I do not think it is right for illegals to drain our entitlement programs, but neither is it right to make judgment because of appearance or the language one speaks, or the color of their skin for all that matters.
Sorry, you did not offend me here, but I have been watching you in the past few days!
Fair answer, Gus...
As to the "Rock Pile" cats post? To elicit a little "humor" from those whom do not think "Saving the Cats" drama is foremost in what needs to be done.
I have 4! 4! cats.
I do NOT mistreat them...However, I think there could be much more done for the humans in this area, without a Campaign for...cats!
As to this recent post...I have NOTHING against providing for the needy, unless...my/your taxes...that come out of my every check, are EASILY allowed to be squandered into the hands of NON-Americans...whom are given every opportunity to freely join our society.
I have witnessed the "Government" help programs first hand. The "red tape" process for a Natural born American is much more lengthy...there is no box to click for "Emergency Assistance" for "Displaced Migrant Worker"...if you are NOT a displaced Migrant Worker?
Thanks, you have made a viable post here.
I think there has been more than enough emphasis given to the rockpile cats, but, these people have done it on their own time and spent their own money to do so. They have requested private help, but that does not equal to it being taken away from taxpayers.
Making jokes about the human consumption is not going to garner you any friends on this forum. If you want to be considered with reputability in any future threads, you need to not use comparisons like you did to the rockpile cats.
You can begin to be civil in your posts at any time, I think you can do it!

Sometimes I just need a laugh...
It disracts me from the REAL woes...
It is not intended to offend...
Just a cheap laugh...that's all.
People here illegally can qualify for WIC, but it is one of the few programs of this kind that someone here illegally can qualify for. The intended purpose is for food/nutrition of a pregnant woman and the baby. Our country does not want to see any child/baby go without basic needs. If the baby is born on our soil, s/he is an American. These programs are certainly abused, and it's disgusting, but we do it for the children.

If you're really worried about throwing money away, look at the "WIC approved" items. They usually cost substantially more than similar items. I know the milk is the most expensive stuff in the store. For people who are in need of WIC assistance, generic or less expensive brands should do just fine.

LOL, I know, I buy generic stuff to save money myself, can get a gallon of milk at Aldi for 2.49, what is the regular stuff, over 4 dollars.
