There already is a portion of the Democratic party that is so far left that they've lost all resemblance of sanity and rationality and that includes those of "The Squad" and Bernie Sanders types.  They are actively rebelling from within the party and seeking others, like-minded to themselves, to "primary" other Democrats whom they perceive as moderate or right of their beliefs.   Some call them progressive while others label them as socialist but I believe they are more akin to communist than socialist and I fully believe if they had their way the existing Constitution would be scrapped and replaced with some manifesto or radical document giving all power to the government as they seek total control over their constituents, people, subjects.

The current run, by Bernie Sanders, for President very well may open wounds existing from 2016 when he obviously was cheated by Hillary and the Democratic Party even though if left alone, then, he most likely wouldn't have won.  Still, his supporters will and do, remember being Hillary'ed.  These are not only some of the most radical supporters that he has, along with the squad, but they are also potentially dangerous and could be violent (I believe).  Some have already been taped/recorded by Operation Veritas saying that potentially re-education camps may be necessary for folks like myself and other Trump supporters, Republicans, and/or Conservatives.  Some of these people's cheese has slipped off their crackers (for real).

Even if there are not perceived irregularities in the Democratic primaries, and there have already been with the Iowa Caucus, these uber left radicals may well on their own split from the Democratic party into a fringe party of their own or seek an independent run for the 2020 Presidency.  One only has to look at the way many of the older, established, Democratic politicians are responding and acting today to see how much influence these new socialist Democrats have.  It could even be argued that Nancy Pelosi is SINO (Speaker in Name Only) due to her actions in responding, or reacting, to the new group of Democratic freshmen/freshwomen.  Her time and influence are surely limited as the younger Democrats began to take, and yield, power from the establishment.

Actually a split may be the best thing for the Democrats and the nation because it would force people/voters, who now vote and support anything Democrat, blindly to take a position on which fringe section to actually support and why.  IF they stay together and don't split then we could, very well, see a day when a socialist (or quasi Communist) is elected to a position of power.  So many Nations fall from inside rather than external threats and what with so many having been educated (or lack of it) from highly liberal educators and professors they don't recognize Communism as dangerous or threatening.  It would be a definite move toward totalitarian rule where one move would be to eliminate elections altogether.  Adam Schiff already, in his presentation to the Senate has accidentally revealed the Democrat desire to stop elections that they perceive they have no chance of winning.  Elimination of elections or elimination of the Electoral College is one and the same to eliminate a fair election process.

The electoral college exists, as it is, to make elections fairer and give more representation to smaller states and areas whereas if the Presidential election was only by majority vote you'd never see Politicians or Candidates in States other than New York, Texas, California and potentially Florida and/or one or two other states.  Another move, by some Democrats, to eliminate power from the people is the move or notion to increase the number of Supreme Court Justices when Democrats gain power once again in all branches thereby ensuring that they can control the Judicial branch as well.

There's ~330 million people in the US, and clearly 2 parties aren't cutting it anymore.  Four parties would make it easier for the american people to have their voices heard.

1) Moderate Dems:  Sherrod Brown, Amy Klobuchar (*for example)

2) Democratic Socialists: Sanders, Aoc (*)

3) Republicans/Conservatives:  Justin Amash, Tim Scott (*)

4) trumpists/dixiecrats

I don't know if I would agree with the assessment of the Republican party because I think the divide in the Republican party is more of Establishment (content to be minority party) Republicans and Conservative new Republicans (for lack of coming up with a better name).   Typical of the Establishment Republicans are those that many calls "the Swamp dwellers" or permanent politicians who I would say are represented by those like Romney, McCain, Bush's, Sen. Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins, and a few others like former Arizona Senator Jeff Flake.  Some are "never-Trumpers" while others are like Mitch McConnell who are just entrenched and content to exist either in the minority or majority.

Conservative new Republicans that are not willing to accept minority status and tend to be more aligned with the old Tea Party movement and are focused greatly on Religious Freedom, 2nd Amendment freedoms, etc, that turn out to be far more effective leaders.  Some of them are like Lindsey Graham, Matt Gaetz,  Mike Huckabee, and Jim Jordan among others.  It's also interesting that some of these more effective and successful Republicans are former, disenchanted, Democrats who realized that the party that they were supporting was not actually representing typical American concerns and views.  Consider one being President Trump and another Ronald Reagan.  Even a majority of the Southern States which were staunchly and solidly Democrat in the 1950s and 1960s saw a Democratic party that was leaving them and being taken over.

I know what I have said is far too simplistic as there are more divisions within each party but if they were to be grouped into two sections I would choose the Left and far Left or liberal and Socialist for the Democrats and Establishment and Tea Party Republicans as Republicans are more moderate and conservative in nature.
