A man wanted in Wisconsin for failing to register as a sex offender has been arrested in Florence.

Florence Police have arrested 33year-old, Joseph Michael Benafield. He was convicted in 2006 of second-degree sexual assault of a child.

Benafield was sent to prison for 18 months and ordered to register as a sex offender in Wisconsin.

In October, Wisconsin authorities charged Benafield with four counts of failure to register as a sexual offender.

The U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Apprehension Squad developed information in December that Benafield was in the Florence area.

Florence Police say Benafield was arrested without incident on Monday. They had received information of his whereabouts from Wisconsin authorities and the US Marshalls.

Red Face Now I'll never look at those two businesses the same (even though it isn't their fault). Of course it has been almost 40 years since I darkened the doors of Tourway.
Years ago I use to visit waffle house once a week. I remember him starting work there. He had came to town with the FAIR and if I remember correctly that is how he left. I guess being in a different city every week is a good way to disappear from the authorities. And for that reason, I can't understand why so many people carry kids to the fair.
