BOAZ, AL (WAFF) - A father and daughter were arrested and charged with a criminal mischief offense after setting a car on fire in the Mountainboro community.

26-year-old Haleigh Elizabeth Boland tried on May 8th to set her car that had been reposessed on fire, and accidentally ended up catching herself on fire as well.

Her father, 50-year-old Benny Gene Boland, helped her poor gasoline over the car at Carlisle Cut-Off Road for retaliation.

Etowah County Investigator Shane Hartley said the father daughter duo was arrested May 18th and charged with one count of first degree criminal mischief, which is a felony.

Investigator Hartley said that the victim who had the vehicle set up a video camera and captured the incident on tape.

The video shows Haleigh catching herself on fire and taking off the burning clothes as she ran to a vehicle to drive away.

When Investigator Hartley interviewed the Boland's, Haleigh confessed to being the individual seen in the video. She suffered first and second degree burns on her upper body.

Both Haleigh and Benny have been released on $2,500 bond each.
