Back in the early 90s, there was a local band called Witcher. The guitarist was Steve Simms, who owned/ran Galaxy Music, at that little strip mall (Cobblestone something) that burned (supposedly the landlord burned it for the insurance money), near where Sonic and Ruby Tuesdays now are. Great guy, I bought a lot of stuff there.

Behind the store, on Saturday nights, was open practice. I was in high school at the time, and for us, it was like a free concert. Their original stuff was pretty good, but maybe not exactly marketable.

I recall them doing covers of Man in the Box, Radar Love, Detroit Rock City, Stealin (Uriah Heep),..having a hard time remembering others.

Anyone have any memories of that band, or better yet, PM me if you have access to any recordings or artifacts.

I only had a copy of Conceived in Flames, but I bought the other two at Galaxy. Still have em somewhere. Always meant to transfer them to CD or mp3s, but at this point, wish I had digital copies from the source (hint hint..)

Besides seeing them many times at the practice room, the fellas and I went to Nashville and saw them at the Cannery, Shoals Theater, Muscle Shoals Music Hall of Fame, probably some more. Those were fun times.

I took lessons at Galaxy for a while.
Withcher was a fun band which I have many fond memories. Witcher will always be a big part of my past. I hope the ones that posted enjoyed the years that Witcher entertained cause I know for a fact they sure enjoyed playing for you guys, And If they found out bout this forum they would thank you for the kind words and the memories.
YOU GUYS ROCKYOU GUYS ROCK
All I can say guys and gals is WOW!!! You guys just made my day!!! I'm Jaime the drummer. It's AWESOME that you guys remember and miss the good ole’ days!!! I know I speak for the rest of the guys when I say THANK YOU!!! I am humbled that we had such an impact on some of you head bangers! But it makes me feel good to know that and I know the other guys would say the same thing.

Those were the good ole' days weren't they. Every Saturday night felt like a concert to us and that's how we played. Didn't matter if it was 1 person or 50, we wanted to rock your tails off! And I hope that's how it came off. It was definitely the best band that I have been a part of. Playing for you guys was the biggest high! It was also awesome to see some of the things Steve could do with the guitar. I don't think there was ever a night of playing or practicing that went by, that he didn't blow our minds.

I now work as a Network Administrator for NASA at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville. I still play the drums and the acoustic guitar as well. I play the drums on Sunday nights at Highland Park Baptist Church in Muscle Shoals with the Praise Band. I also play the guitar with the College and Career Praise Band on Wednesday nights at the church. Not the same type music..lol… but fun none the less. 8) If you were at Louie Louie’s Saturday night of the Handyfest (the 28th) I was there with Fly By Radio and sat in on drums for a song with those guys. If you don’t know who they are then check them out. www.flybyradio.com. If you liked us then you should like them.

Olwiggum, are talking about when Axes won the b of the b, or the time Witcher won when I was playing?

I do have good news about the Witcher archives.A few months ago, I did talk with Jeff, our engineer for the albums, and he does still have the master copies. We started talking about putting all that stuff on disc. That is not final yet and I haven’t talked with him since. I think it’s just a matter of us getting the time to do it. And we would obviously have to talk with the other guys as well. We’ll just have to see how much support from you guys on that.

I haven't talked with or seen any of the guys since the store burned. So I don't the where abouts or what the guys are doing. Yes I’m a loser in that category 8) but you have given me the incentive to do just that. I do know that Steve wasn't in the best of health.

I don’t know if any of the other guys post here, but witcher02 and good_ta_know PM me and tell me who you are cause you guys seem to know a lot of stuff about us.

Again, Thanks so much for the support you gave us back then and the support I see here today! It truly is very special to me personally, to see that you guys haven’t forgot! Me and a friend are constantly saying "oh remember back when Witcher did....". Being in Witcher was a time in my life I truly hold close to my heart. I know the other guys feel the same.

Rock and Roll FOREVER my friends!!!
Keep in touch!

Scott Phillips was lead singer before Niqui, then Scott was in Dog Soldier, not sure what he's up to these days.

I am here. I recently had a copy of what was later named "Trance-Formations" with me singing on it. I had written all but two of the tracks before I left the band. I know 'Crucified' became 'Hula Hoop'. I'd have to go back and have a listen to the others. SYFM, Sunshine Child, Cycle of my Pain, and Medicine Trance are a few of mine that showed up. I'll go have a look and let you know.
