There are many things I like about Romney, and I think he would have made a better candidate than McCain. So Romney's Mormonism didn't bother me in that specific situation.

As to your general question, I think it would be a case by case thing for me, and I'm not just talking about Mormons. I think it's dangerous to have any president who makes decisions strictly based on the tenets of his particular faith. In other words, we've got to have a president that has the ability to actually see and consider other points of view.

A good example is JFK, who was the first Roman Catholic president. Protestants feared he would take orders from the Vatican in his role as president. That didn't happen, of course.

It says a lot that most people would take him back over the job killer in chief.

Is this one of the things you learned on Faux News Ronnie? You need treatment for being a Foxiphile. Which one of you would vote for a "queer" mormon? The guy who posted that poll and the topic is an a**hole and a reflection of redneck Alabama at it's worst, probably is a TEABAGGER to boot! Big Grin

Romney is still considered the front runner for the Repubs in 2012, despite him being the originator of Romneycare, and the idea of a insurance purchase mandate.

I don't care about Romney's faith; I do care about his past political decisions. Unless He appears before the public in sackcloth and ashes and asks for forgiveness for his part in the destruction of Massachusetts finances with "healthcare reform" , he definitely won't get my vote in the primary. If he wins the primary, my vote depends on the closeness of the election. Obama will be the the candidate of the dems and will be the most evil of the lessors. If the election is close, I'll vote spit-ticket and vote for Romney, otherwise, I'm going third party.

It doesn't really matter who you vote for. Alabama will vote Republican and Obama will still win re-election.

That is exactly right. Romney could in fact split the Repub vote bloc in AlObama and give our elector votes to the Dems.
