Can someone please enlighten me for a quick second. Why do some restaurants not have waiters and waitresses write down orders when given to them? Most places do, but I have noticed at the nicer restaurants the waiting staff won't. One waiter came back to me the other night and asked me to repeat my order because he wanted to make sure he had it correct. He STILL didn't write it down.

If it is to make the waiter look more attentive to the patrons, instead of looking down and giving the patron their full attention, then great. But I think I would be happier just getting my order correct.

When I and my extended family were at a Shoney's in south Alabama we were a party of eight. The resturant was crowed and we had a varity of drinks. One of the ladies in our group had Dr. Pepper, a few had cokes, and the rest had sweet or unsweet tea. When the waitress refreshed our drinks she nailed it every one was right, even the Dr. Pepper. When I complimented her and asked how in the world did you remember all of that, she replied "it's my job." These people work hard and are under appreciated. I left her a generous tip.
