Geddon, Can I try to give the headlines that will be in the NYTimes or liberal's point of view? Please, Please, Please?

ok, here it goes..

Those marines acted irresponsible for firing back at those innocent civilians...there is not proof that they were terrorist, in Fact the whole notion that they came under fire is in question. This contradiction of the facts comes from an eyewitness that was in Europe at the time of the attack. (New York Times)

My son was a Marine, and My dad is also. I have great respect for the Marines. If they want to mess with a Marine, they better come prepared.
This is for the entire board.

Just a couple of random common sense thoughts:

We are not and will not win the war on terror, ever. We aren't committed. This type of change has to come from within. We can train a Marine in 12 weeks, how long have we been training the Iraqi forces and what are the numbers? We are not fighting from our strength which makes it tough to win. Terror is not any enemy, it is a tactic. Hard to identify the bad guys when they all look alike. I'm guessing there are about 26,000,000 Iraqis and 130,000 soldiers there at any given time, that is a 200 to 1 ratio. Do we believe a single soldier can effectively police 200 people 24/7?

No.

And did I mention that we aren't committed? To win, you must prepared to kill them all. We are not.

I thought somewhere between the armchair warmongers and the flower power peacenicks there would be more people thinking logically.

I give you Thomas Barnett.

Enjoy.
Gotta love the Marines...Semper Fi, Do or Die!!!

I love the verocity and bravado of a young Marine corporal who beleives in what he is fighting for and has the courage to stand his ground in the face of an overwhelming enemy. If the entire population of the US had the same desire and drive as these young Marines, we would get and deserve the respect that we are entitled for putting our young men's lives on the line for these people. We would demand it and our enemies would fear us, rather than laugh at us. They are what is standing between this country and those that wish to do evil upon us. God bless them and keep them safe. Despite the fact that these Marines deserve a medal, they will probably not even receive a "thank you".
No question there...I've been there and know the rules of engagement. The rules of engagement give a distinct advantage to the bad guys.

We've had to completely bypass high-value targets with air strikes because of the possibility of collateral damage to civilian targets. The high value targets were sited by the enemy near schools and hospitals. These have to be taken out by hazardous, direct action.

Another USMC motto: "The Marines are at war; America is at the mall."

Yep, that is the way right wingers think, and their thinking comes from fox news and right wing hate talk radio. Right wingers are known for their propaganda and lies to try and change people to their way of thinking. My son is a Marine and in Iraq.
