And as I said..it may be that the Chinese were the ones who wanted an office there and perhaps it wasn't needed or wanted in other countries, or maybe they offered or...who knows?  I have no idea..why not ask someone actually at UNA who would know the real answer?

Different universities recruit foreign students in various nations depending upon the their success on recruiting.  I suspect China was a niche for UNA.  There are 10s of thousands of US students studying in China.  China offers US students partial scholarships.  While, I am wary of China and its leaders' future plans, UNA does not have an advanced DoD research program or industrial design program  worthy of industrial espionage.

While I doubt it will entice industrial espionage, it seems UNA has stated it has a new program in the works called "Engineering Technology." No one at UNA that I've asked know what it is, and the TD article on it has been taken down.

In the funny dept., it seems since I've been typing "China" today, I've just had some ads for a site called "China Love." I don't know what the Lieutenant would say about that, but if I wanted a Chinese bride, would I want one that had such obvious cosmetic surgery to make her look more occidental?

Ms. Columbo,

I see that half of one floor of the new Science and Technology building will be reserved for Engineering Technology.  Looks like the old two year engineering program UNA has had for years.  Lets students stay closer to home before transferring for the third and fourth year.

Floyd hall had problems since it was built.  You could scratch the cement holding the concrete bricks together and an inordinate amount of sand came loose.  Never trusted the mix.

The operation to look more occidental is nothing new.  Saw Viet Namese women get it in the early seventies.  Always like the slight slant to the eyes and hated the operation that eliminated that.  No actual slant, of course, just an adjustment to the fold on the eye lid.
